We were so touched to receive this lovely card for Aditi and the whole team.

Kind words from our patients genuinely mean a lot to us. It is always encouraging to know that the care, time and attention we give is felt and appreciated.

A big thank you to the patient who gave this to us🙏. Your handwritten message really made Aditi’s day and brought a smile to the whole team.

is coming to an end, and it is a good time to pause and reflect on how much alcohol we actually drink. Most people underestimate it, often by quite a lot.

At your next dental appointment, your dentist may ask about your alcohol intake. That is not just a routine question. Alcohol can affect your oral health in several ways, including dry mouth, enamel erosion, gum disease, and an increased risk of oral cancer. It is also worth remembering the amount of sugar many alcoholic drinks contain.

The graphic shown here is designed to help you see what your usual drinks really add up to in units. So what are the current recommended drinking guidelines in Scotland?

For adults over 18:
• To keep health risks from alcohol low, it is safest not to regularly drink more than 14 units per week
• If you drink up to 14 units a week, try to spread this over three or more days rather than having it all at once
• Aim to have several alcohol-free days each week
• The safest option for anyone who is pregnant, or trying to conceive, is to avoid alcohol altogether

If you are surprised by how quickly units add up, you are not alone. Awareness is the first step, and even small changes can make a real difference to both your general health and your oral health.

Saving this post might be handy before your next pour 🍷

In light of the newly issued amber warning, we will be closing the practice at 5.00 pm today to help ensure a safe journey home for our staff.

Tomorrow, Wednesday 7 January, we will open at 9.00 am, giving everyone a little extra time to travel in safely and for us to make sure the practice is ready for patients.

If you are coming to see us, please allow extra time for your journey, take care on icy paths, and only travel if you feel it is safe to do so. Thank you for your understanding, and stay safe out there.

Due to the adverse weather and the challenging road conditions, the practice is now closed for the rest of the day.

If you have a dental emergency, please call the practice, and we will provide the contact number for our on-call dentist.

Tomorrow, Tuesday 6 January, we will open at 9.00 am instead of 8.00 am. We hope that the roads will have improved by then, allowing safer travel for both our patients and our staff.

Thank you for your understanding, and please stay safe.

Dear patients,
Our car park is currently closed as it is completely covered with snow and not safe to use.

We kindly ask you to find alternative parking nearby if you are attending an appointment.

Thank you for your understanding, and please take extra care when travelling.

04/01/2026

Dear patients,
Due to the severe snow and the current amber weather warning, we will be opening our practice at 10.00 am instead of 8.00 am.

This later start is to help ensure our team and our patients can travel as safely as possible, as road conditions tend to improve as the morning goes on.

We are sorry to those patients whose morning appointments will need to be cancelled as a result. We will contact you and offer a new appointment at the earliest available time.

Thank you for your understanding, and please take care in the snow.

Earlier this month we celebrated our Christmas party at the wonderful Barra Castle. The team had a brilliant time soaking in the atmosphere and the 360 photo op kept everyone entertained all evening. The fireworks were the highlight of the night, without a doubt. A big thank you to our directors Navin and Shadh for treating us to such a memorable evening.

Minty has been caught red-handed in the cash box today. Coins everywhere, and him sitting there looking far too pleased with himself, clutching a twenty like it’s pocket money.

His official defence?
“I wasn’t stealing… I was conducting a surprise audit.”

Only Minty could turn mischief into a management exercise. 🎄💸

16/12/2025

Minty is at it again. Today he’s a full-time wobbly glider, swooping around the surgery like he’s expecting applause. If you see him mid-flight, give him a nod… he loves an audience almost as much as he loves chaos. 🧝
