𝗜 𝗚𝗘𝗡𝗨𝗜𝗡𝗘𝗟𝗬 𝗪𝗔𝗦𝗡’𝗧 𝗘𝗫𝗣𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗦 🏆

Last night, I received the 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗜𝗥𝗠𝗔𝗡’𝗦 𝗔𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗗 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗢𝗨𝗧𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗡𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗕𝗨𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 at the {my}dentist Excellence Awards.

After nine years with {my}dentist and eight years at Kirk Hallam, this one means a huge amount to me.

Although my name is on the award, it still feels like a team achievement.

Anything I’ve been able to contribute has only been possible because of the brilliant people around me. The team who care for our patients, support every new idea and somehow keep everything running while I add another project to the list 😂

𝘐 𝘮𝘢𝘺 𝘣𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘐 𝘥𝘦𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘺 𝘥𝘪𝘥𝘯’𝘵 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘰𝘯 𝘮𝘺 𝘰𝘸𝘯.

Thank you to the entire Kirk Hallam team and to {my}dentist for this recognition.

Still can’t quite believe it 💙🏆

𝗜’𝗟𝗟 𝗕𝗘 𝗛𝗢𝗡𝗘𝗦𝗧, 𝗜 𝗙𝗘𝗟𝗧 𝗔 𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗧𝗟𝗘 𝗢𝗨𝗧 𝗢𝗙 𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗖𝗘 𝗜𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗦 𝗥𝗢𝗢𝗠.

The Power List Awards in London brought together some genuinely incredible entrepreneurs, CEOs and leaders from across dentistry.

I spoke to people who own one dental practice and people who own more than 100. The conversations were brilliant, the stories were inspiring and the whole evening gave me plenty to think about.

Paul Sinha from The Chase was hosting too, which made the night even better!

Brush It Forward was shortlisted for 𝗜𝗡𝗡𝗢𝗩𝗔𝗧𝗢𝗥 𝗢𝗙 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗬𝗘𝗔𝗥.

Ie didn’t win, but seeing something that started as a small idea in Ilkeston recognised alongside businesses and individuals of this level felt pretty special.

𝘐’𝘮 𝘥𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘺 𝘣𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘸𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘯’𝘴 𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘭 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘺.

This experience has given me even more motivation to keep building Brush It Forward, reach more schools and help more children.

We didn’t bring home the award, but we’re only getting started.

𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗬 𝗦𝗠𝗜𝗟𝗘 𝗡𝗘𝗘𝗗𝗦 𝟴 𝗢𝗥 𝟭𝟬 𝗧𝗘𝗘𝗧𝗛 𝗧𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗗 🦷✨

This was a really simple composite bonding tweak across just 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗵.

This is my favorite type of composite bonding.. little invisible tweaks..

The aim wasn’t to create a completely different smile. It was simply to refine the shapes, improve the balance and keep everything looking natural.

𝗪𝗘’𝗥𝗘 𝗣𝗥𝗔𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗖𝗘 𝗢𝗙 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗬𝗘𝗔𝗥 𝗙𝗜𝗡𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗦! 🏆

Absolutely buzzing that our Kirk Hallam team has reached the final of the {my}dentist Excellence Awards!

Obviously, one team photo wasn’t enough...

One of the team decided to create an AI version too, and apparently AI thinks I should be one of the girls 😂

𝘚𝘸𝘪𝘱𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘪𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘴𝘱𝘰𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦...

𝗪𝗛𝗜𝗖𝗛 𝗢𝗡𝗘 𝗜𝗦 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗟 𝗧𝗘𝗔𝗠? 👀😂

Seriously though, I’m properly proud of this lot. They work incredibly hard, support each other and make our practice what it is.

Reaching the final belongs to every single one of them 💙

𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻, 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿!

Seren currently attends Bilborough College and hopes to study psychology at university.

She’s been helping me call schools, find out how many children need toothbrushes, count them all and get everything bagged and ready to go.

She’ll also be joining me on a school visit soon, so she can see exactly where all that work ends up and meet some of the children we’re helping.

𝘏𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯 𝘦𝘹𝘵𝘳𝘢 𝘱𝘢𝘪𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘴 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘢𝘭𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘺 𝘮𝘢𝘥𝘦 𝘢 𝘮𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘥𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦.

Thank you so much, Seren. You’ve properly got stuck in and I really appreciate all your help 🙌

𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗦 𝗜𝗦 𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗔 𝗦𝗠𝗜𝗟𝗘 𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗡𝗦𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗜𝗦 𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗬 𝗔𝗕𝗢𝗨𝗧. 💙

Megan sent me these photos and said it still feels surreal that she now feels confident enough to post pictures showing her teeth.

Something she used to absolutely hate doing.

Her transformation included 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 followed by 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝗭𝗼𝗼𝗺! 𝘁𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗵 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴, but the biggest change has been the confidence it has given her.

Because it isn’t just about changing how someone’s teeth look.

It’s being able to laugh without covering your mouth.

It’s smiling properly in photographs.

It’s enjoying the moment without thinking about your teeth first.

Megan, you deserve every bit of that confidence.

Keep smiling 😁💙

𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥 𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞𝗘𝗗 𝗔𝗧 𝗔 𝗗𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗔𝗟 𝗫-𝗥𝗔𝗬 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗝𝗨𝗦𝗧 𝗡𝗢𝗗𝗗𝗘𝗗? 😂

I’ve looked at thousands of dental X-rays.

Most patients haven’t.

Yet we’ve always expected you to look at a black-and-white image and understand exactly what we’re talking about.

This is Overjet AI.

It adds clear colour highlights to dental X-rays, helping me show you possible areas of decay, calculus and changes in bone levels.

The important bit is that it doesn’t replace me and it doesn’t make the final decision.

I still examine you, assess the X-rays and decide what treatment you actually need.

It simply gives me another set of eyes and gives you a much clearer way to see what I can see.

AI isn’t replacing your dentist.

It’s helping your dentist explain things better. 🦷🤖

Would this make your X-rays easier to understand?

Turns out being stuck at home with a bad back and having too much time on my hands was a dangerous combination 😂

I’m back at work now, taking things slowly and working a few hours a day catching up.

But while I was off, Robyn and I apparently launched our rap careers 🎤😂

It’s good to be back 💙

🪥 LOCAL STUDENT VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY 🪥

Would any sixth-form, college or university student in the Ilkeston area like to gain some valuable volunteer experience?

I run Brush It Forward, a local non-profit Community Interest Company helping provide toothbrushes and oral-health education to children through schools and nurseries.

We’ve now donated or committed more than 75,000 toothbrushes nationally, and the project is continuing to grow.

I’m looking for someone enthusiastic who could occasionally help with things such as:

• Organising toothbrush donations
• Contacting and coordinating local schools
• Supporting community events
• Social-media content
• General project administration

It’s a chance to support a genuine community project, learn new skills and gain useful experience for your CV. I’d also be happy to provide a reference following meaningful involvement.

This is an unpaid volunteer opportunity.

Selected students aged 16 or over may also attend occasional school visits, subject to the school’s approval, safeguarding requirements and appropriate supervision.

If you’re interested, please message me with a little information about yourself, what you’re studying and why you’d like to get involved 😊
