We wanted to share this beautiful handwritten letter from one of our wonderful patients, who wrote to let us know that he is moving to a practice closer to home.

His kind and thoughtful approach means a great deal to us. It reminds us that good dentistry is not only about treatment, but also about the relationships we build with our patients.

When we took over this practice, we embraced its heritage, the expectations of our patients, and the trust that comes with it. After all, Huntly Dental Practice has been in this town for over a century.

We remind ourselves every day to care for it with the same pride and responsibility it was built on.

A sincere thank you to this patient, and to everyone who has placed their trust in Huntly Dental Practice.

Dear Patients,

We’re making a small change to how we send appointment reminders.

Instead of paper, reminders will now be sent by email. It’s quicker, more reliable, and helps us reduce unnecessary paper use.

From now on, you’ll receive:

📧 An email reminder 2 weeks before your appointment
📲 A text message reminder 48 hours before
📧 A final email reminder 24 hours before your appointment

We know that not everyone prefers digital communication, and some of our patients, particularly senior members of our community, are more comfortable with paper reminders.

We’ll continue to provide paper reminders where needed.

If you’d like to update your email details, please email [email protected] with your full name, date of birth, postcode, and updated email address.

Hi everyone, it’s Sarah here, one of the dentists at the practice.

Tomorrow, I’m taking part in the London Landmarks Half Marathon to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity.

They do such important work supporting seriously ill children and their families, and it’s a cause that really means a lot to me.

If you’re able to, I’d really appreciate any donation, big or small. Every bit genuinely makes a difference. Here’s my JustGiving page, if you’d like to donate ⬇️

It would mean so much to have your support.

Thank you so much 🤍

Our dentist, Sarah Azeem, will be taking on the London Landmarks Half Marathon next April in support of Great Ormond Street Hospital.

As she marks her 40th birthday, Sarah has chosen to run 13.1 miles to raise funds for seriously ill children and their families.

We are incredibly proud of her dedication and the cause she is supporting.

is coming to an end, and it is a good time to pause and reflect on how much alcohol we actually drink. Most people underestimate it, often by quite a lot.

At your next dental appointment, your dentist may ask about your alcohol intake. That is not just a routine question. Alcohol can affect your oral health in several ways, including dry mouth, enamel erosion, gum disease, and an increased risk of oral cancer. It is also worth remembering the amount of sugar many alcoholic drinks contain.

The graphic shown here is designed to help you see what your usual drinks really add up to in units. So what are the current recommended drinking guidelines in Scotland?

For adults over 18:
• To keep health risks from alcohol low, it is safest not to regularly drink more than 14 units per week
• If you drink up to 14 units a week, try to spread this over three or more days rather than having it all at once
• Aim to have several alcohol-free days each week
• The safest option for anyone who is pregnant, or trying to conceive, is to avoid alcohol altogether

If you are surprised by how quickly units add up, you are not alone. Awareness is the first step, and even small changes can make a real difference to both your general health and your oral health.

Saving this post might be handy before your next pour 🍷

We are deeply saddened to share the news of the sudden passing of our dental nurse and colleague, Elaine Ingram.

Elaine was part of the Huntly Dental Practice family for 14 years, and it is difficult to put into words what she meant to all of us. Even on the busiest days, she would still take a moment to ask how you were doing and genuinely listen. She had a quiet way of making people feel seen, reassured, and cared for.

Our practice was like a home to Elaine, and she was truly a member of our family. She will be deeply missed by our team and by the many patients who came to know her warmth, kindness, and gentle support.

At this time, we extend our heartfelt sympathies and sincere condolences to Elaine’s family and loved ones.

Funeral arrangements (as shared by William Watson Funeral Directors):
A funeral service, to which all friends are respectfully invited, will take place at William Watson Funeral Directors, Blackfriars Road, Elgin, on Friday 23 January 2026 at 2.00pm, thereafter cremation private.

Practice closure notice:
To allow our team to attend Elaine’s funeral and pay our respects, Huntly Dental Practice will be closed on Friday 23 January 2026. Thank you for your understanding.

You will be dearly missed, Elaine. We will carry your memory with us, always.

In light of the newly issued amber warning, we will be closing the practice at 5.00 pm today to help ensure a safe journey home for our staff.

Tomorrow, Wednesday 7 January, we will open at 9.00 am, giving everyone a little extra time to travel in safely and for us to make sure the practice is ready for patients.

If you are coming to see us, please allow extra time for your journey, take care on icy paths, and only travel if you feel it is safe to do so. Thank you for your understanding, and stay safe out there.

Unfortunately, due to the adverse weather conditions, we are now closing the practice for the rest of the day.

If you have a dental emergency, please call the practice, and we will give you the contact number for our on-call dentist.

Tomorrow, Tuesday 6 January, the practice will open at 9.00 am instead of 8.00 am. We hope the roads will be safer by then for both our patients and our staff.

Thank you for your understanding, and please stay safe.

04/01/2026

Dear patients,
Due to the severe snow and the amber weather warning, we will be opening our practice at 9.00 am instead of 8.00 am tomorrow.

This later start will hopefully allow our staff and patients to travel more safely, as road conditions tend to improve as the morning goes on.

We apologise to any patients whose appointments will need to be cancelled. We will do our best to offer you a new appointment at the earliest availability.

Thank you very much for your understanding. Please stay safe.
