You didnāt see your orthodontist at your visit today? Hereās why! š¦·āØš¤ An orthodontic therapist is a registered dental professional who has undertaken additional specialist training to carry out orthodontic treatment under the prescription of an orthodontist or dentist.
They can carry out much of the hands on treatment involved in braces and aligners, including fitting and adjusting braces, changing wires and elastics, taking scans and photographs, fitting attachments, and removing braces at the end of treatment. The orthodontist remains responsible for diagnosis and the overall treatment plan, while the orthodontic therapist delivers treatment within that prescribed plan.
