As a result, Abbeylands Dental has taken the decision to close the practice from now.
We felt this was the best decision to safe guard our patients and our staff.

🔺COVID-19 Update🔺
Just a wee update to clarify where we are following the latest announcement about the NHS dental service from the Scottish Government.
We will, from today, be allowed to do the aerosol generating procedures that had been forbidden by the NHS Scotland. However this will not be to perform routine treatment and can only be offered if needed for urgent care. We are still unable to provide routine treatments that would require the use of the high speed drill, for fillings and our scaling machines for cleaning teeth.
It is a small step forward but still seriously limits the treatments that we can provide. It will however increase the number of teeth that can be saved which is a little bit of good news.
Hope that makes it a bit clearer. We will continue to be available for anyone with a dental problem and will always try to help you and deal with issues as promptly as possible under these difficult circumstances.

🔺COVID-19 Update🔺
Hi everybody, just a wee update to clarify where we are with the restrictions imposed by the Health Service while we are dealing with COVID.
We are still forbidden from performing aerosol generating procedures. That means we are unable to use our high speed drill, ultrasonic scaler, for cleaning teeth and our air and water syringe for cleaning and washing teeth. This means that we still are very limited to what procedures we can do. In fact although the Scottish Government have said we can do routine treatment, there actually is little new that we are able to do in the surgery. So the service we can provide will largely remain as it has been for a while with urgent care and simple repairs for broken teeth and refixing crowns and taking teeth out.
We hope that makes it clear and we continue to appreciate your patience in these difficult times.
Stay safe.

🔺COVID-19 Update🔺

As a result of the Scottish Government's announcement yesterday some dental practices in Scotland can open for emergency care from Monday 22nd June.
The team at Abbeylands Dental Practice are delighted that we can shortly re-open for very limited treatments. However, we must still comply with the government rules on social distancing and other measures designed to protect our patients and staff. This means we have to source some protective equipment in order to make us all safe. As a result we will have to delay re-opening until Monday 29th June.
The health board are still limiting treatments that we can carry out so we still have to prioritise ‘urgent’ patients. Routine appointments cannot be made just yet. It will take some time before services return to what you previously experienced as normal. Please be patient.

We have some made changes to help protect our patients and staff. For example:
•If you have a problem you should contact the practice by phone. We would prefer if you don't just drop in. This is so we can control the number of people at the practice to aid social distancing.
• Our practice will communicate with you beforehand to ask some screening questions. You’ll be asked those same questions again at your appointment.
• We have hand sanitiser that we will ask you to use when you enter the practice. You will also find some in the reception area and other places in the practice for you to use as needed.
• Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. That might mean that you’re offered fewer options for scheduling your appointment.
•We need to minimise the number of people in the practice so where possible patients should come alone.

For the latest updates in regard to the services that we can offer, please visit our page -https://www.facebook.com/AbbeylandsDentalPractice/
This is a very small step in returning to normal but it is progress in the right direction. We do miss seeing our patients and we are eager to return but these are extraordinary circumstances and we will have a lot of constraints on the treatments we can offer for some time.
I appreciate your continued patience and hope you are all keeping safe.
Thanks

🔺COVID-19 Update🔺
Unfortunately we have been informed by the Chief Dental Officer that we must remain closed for another few weeks yet.
There is likely to be an announcement by the Scottish Government on the 18th June, and possibly that will move us to Phase 2 of the recovery.
That would hopefully allow us to reopen but the range of treatments we will be able to offer in our surgery will be limited to simple procedures and assessment with little active treatment.
However there is an increased range of treatments that are offered at the Specialist Care Hubs on our referral.
So at the moment patients should still use the surgery phone number, for advice if you have any problems.
Hope everyone is staying safe and thanks again for your patience in these difficult circumstances.

🔺COVID-19 Update🔺
Unfortunately we were informed last night by the Chief Dental Officer that we must remain closed for at least a few weeks yet. Also when we do reopen it is likely that the range of treatments we can offer in our surgery will be limited. It is an ever changing situation and the timescale the authorities are working to is still quite vague. However they have increased the range of treatments they are able to offer at the Specialist Care Hubs. I have posted the link to their website with more detail.
So at the moment patients should still use the surgery phone number, for advice if you have any problems.
Hope everyone is staying safe and thanks for your patience in these difficult circumstances.

Your Team at Abbeylands

At Abbeylands Dental Practice our primary responsibility is the safety to you, our patients and our whole dental team. In regards to that, after receiving more information from the NHS board regarding the Covid-19 situation the following changes are being made:

* We will only be able to provide emergency care for those patients who have NO symptoms of Covid-19
* We are providing routine check ups for people who are NOT in the vulnerable health groups (ie. over 70’s, people who have underlying health conditions and those who are pregnant)
* Any other treatment, which produces aerosol (drilling, ultrasonic scalings etc) will be postponed until further notice.

Before you make, or attend your next appointment, please follow the current guidelines and if you have any symptoms (a persistent cough, sore throat, fever or shortness of breath) we would ask you to kindly call the practice on 01389879805 to rearrange.

Dental practices have had many years of experience providing a high level of cross infection control meaning our clinical area are always carefully decontaminated as routine, however we are now also extending these measures to communal areas.
Patients will be asked, on entry to the practice, to hand sanitise (hand sanitiser will be available at the reception desk). We ask that if you are an adult patient you attend alone for your appointment, unless you require assistance, where one carer may attend. We ask that children are accompanied by only one parent and not to bring any siblings who do not have appointments.
Could we also encourage payment by card transaction to reduce handling money.

If you have any other concerns or queries please do not hesitate to call us on 01389879805

02/03/2018

Due to continuing poor weather conditions we are closing early today and will reopen as normal on Monday hopefully. Call the surgery number 01389879805 to get information on who to contact in an emergency.
