🪥🦷 Tips From Your Dentist: Cleaning Between Your Teeth Correctly 🦷🪥

Brushing twice a day is an important part of keeping your teeth healthy, but your toothbrush alone can’t effectively clean the areas between your teeth. Making interdental cleaning part of your daily routine helps remove plaque from these harder-to-reach areas and supports healthy gums.

A few things to keep in mind:

• Give yourself 2 - 3 minutes to clean thoroughly between your teeth.
• Use a fresh section of floss for each space between your teeth.
• Be gentle when guiding floss between your teeth, never snap or force it into place.
• Curve the floss around each tooth in a “C” shape, gently moving it up and down and slightly beneath the gumline.
• Consider interdental brushes if you have larger spaces between your teeth. Your dentist or hygienist can recommend the most suitable size.
• Keep it consistent. Some bleeding can occur when gums are inflamed, but regular daily cleaning should help improve this. If bleeding continues, speak to your dentist or hygienist.

A few minutes each day can make a real difference to your teeth and gum health.

Restoration of Failed Amalgam & Composite Fillings Using a Biomimetic Composite Approach

This patient presented with failing amalgam and composite restorations. Both existing restorations were carefully removed, the teeth debrided and prepared before placing new composite restorations.

Composite provided a tooth-coloured, highly aesthetic result, while also allowing a more conservative approach that can preserve healthy tooth structure where clinically appropriate.

The restorations were carefully shaped and polished to replicate the patient’s natural tooth anatomy, shape and colour, creating a functional and natural-looking result.
