Back to Uni & head firmly the books for the first time in 12 years📚
As well as seeing you in clinic, being mum to 2 littles, running everything else in life & a pregnancy thrown in just to really push me to the limits… Iv been studying Dermoscopy with Cardiff University. Dermoscopy is a non-invasive diagnostic technique used to examine skin lesions, including moles and tumors, using a handheld magnifying tool.
The course is usually done by dermatologists, GPs & nurses working in skin cancer so coming from a dental background I had to first of all ask I was suitable for admission. Dentists have great facial anatomy knowledge but we don’t know a huge amount about skin & lesions. Explaining I work in a skin laser clinic I was allowed to do the course but it’s been a whole new subject for me to learn. Going forward I will be able to examine & offer removal of skin lesions like moles & seborrheoic keratoses at . However, even patients not attending with removal in mind for laser or any skin treatment; I wanted to ensure I could examine, diagnosis & discuss skin lesions.
My final exam is on Monday, I’m just getting round to posting about doing this as time is not something I have had a lot of recently. Wish me luck & I look forward to seeing you with my dermascope in clinic soon 🔍🤗
Ps no one has been safe in the house to dermascope 🧐

Pic 4: My dermatofibroma - which I have wondered for about 15 years the lump actually is after my GP rightly so telling me it was nothing to worry about but not telling me what it was - now I know☺️!
