✨🦷 A great example of biomimetic dentistry in action 🦷✨

This patient came in with an old amalgam filling in two sections of their tooth. We carefully removed the existing fillings, debride any underlying decay before moving onto the etching and bonding stage.

This process involves conditioning the tooth surface to create microscopic retention points, followed by applying a bonding agent that allows the composite material to securely adhere to the tooth structure.

The tooth was then rebuilt using a natural-looking composite filling, carefully shaped and colour matched to blend seamlessly with the patient’s smile 🦷

✨🦷 5 Tips For A Healthy Smile 🦷✨

It's so important to practice good oral hygiene and we're here to set you on the right path!

1. Brush for 2 minutes twice daily using gentle, circular motions. Make sure to clean the front, back, and chewing surfaces, as well as along your gum line.

2. Floss Daily - While a toothbrush is great, it can only clean about 60% of your tooth surfaces. Flossing is the only way to remove trapped food particles and plaque from the tight spaces between teeth and under your gum line where a brush simply cannot reach.

3. Don't ignore bleeding gums - this is an early sign of gum disease and can allow reversible gingivitis to progress into severe periodontitis.

4. Be mindful of your sugar intake - What you eat directly impacts your teeth. Harmful bacteria in your mouth feed on sugary snacks and beverages, producing acid that erodes tooth enamel. Limit sugary sweets and acidic items (like citrus or sodas), and if you do indulge, rinse your mouth with water afterward to neutralise the acids.

5. Attend your annual check up - Even the most diligent at-home routine needs professional backup. Schedule routine dental exams and professional cleanings every year. This allows your dental team to remove hardened tartar, spot cavities early, and check for signs of gum disease or oral cancer.

Another successful case handled with care and efficiency. This patient came in with damage to both teeth pictured - The team decided a Biomimetic Restoration was the right process in order to preserve as much of this patient's tooth as possible and also to match the natural tooth colour.

🧚🏻🦷 Emergency Biomimetic Restoration 🦷🧚🏻

A patient came to us early this week with a broken front tooth requiring emergency intervention to save the tooth and restore it while preserving as much of the natural tooth structure as possible.

We took a Biomimetic approach for this case as it allowed us to restore the tooth using a natural colour to blend in such a visible area, perform the procedure chair side so the patient was able to leave in good time and also to shape and contour the restoration to match the natural tooth's appearance.
