🦷 Inlay Restoration of A Lower Biscupid 🦷

Inlays are the middle ground between traditional amalgam or composite fillings and crowns. They are a bespoke solid filling created to bond to the centre of the tooth's chewing surface between the cusps. (The raised points of a tooth.)

For this particular patient, their failed filling revealed extensive decay that left a cavity too big for a traditional filling but not substantial enough to require a crown.

We created this patients custom inlay in our lab and after removing their temporary filling, ensured it fit correctly and then bonded the inlay to their natural tooth. We then finished their treatment by polishing the restoration to ensure it seamlessly fit to their tooth and that any excess bonding agent was also removed.

Sehar Waleed has joined us at the practice as our Dental Therapist.
She’s recently graduated from the University of Edinburgh studying Bsc(Hons) Oral Health Sciences. As a fully qualified therapist, she’ll be carrying out X-rays, treating patients for fillings, be your go-to for hygiene appointments and also provide paediatric treatments.

We’re very excited to have her as part of our team and know she’ll make a fantastic addition to help us continually provide excellent care for all our patients!

✨🦷 Restoration of Decaying Tooth 🦷✨

Tooth decay can be hard to detect on the surface, with the use of X-rays we can determine how deep decay goes and then plan treatment accordingly.

This patient presented with visible decay in their tooth but an X-ray revealed it went deep into the tooth. We opted for a composite filling to maintain a natural look for this patients teeth and using a biomimetic technique, we preserved as much of the natural tooth structure as possible.

The end result was a subtle restoration and a healthy tooth for this patient!
