Snoring is very common and is not usually caused but anything serious. There are things that can help if it’s a problem.
Snoring is caused but things such as your tongue, mouth, throat or airways in your nose vibrating as you breathe.
You are more likely to snore if you are overweight, if you smoke or drink too much alcohol or you sleep on your back. Sometimes it’s caused by a condition like sleep apnoea.

Next up on our countdown to National Dental Hygienist and Dental Therapist Day we have our fantastic hygienist Devanshi! 👏🏼🤩

Where are you from?
🇮🇳🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
Originally from New Delhi, India, but I’ve called the beautiful city of Edinburgh home for the last 3.5 years.

Favourite food?
🍴
I love Chole Bhature - it’s an Indian dish (Spicy chickpea curry with fluffy fried bread) and the first thing I look for when I’m back in New Delhi.

Favourite part of your job?

Meeting people from all walks of life and helping them smile with confidence.✨

How do you like to spend your time off work?
📕☕️
I’m usually lost in a good work of fiction or scouting out the best local cafés for a catch-up with friends. I also love to travel and explore different cultures.

Oral hygiene top tip?
🦷
Scrape your tongue to get rid of the bacteria layer and keep bad breath at bay!

As we count down to National Dental Hygienist and Dental Therapist Day on the 1st May, in April we are focusing on our hygienist’s and the vital role they play in helping our patients maintain good oral hygiene 🦷

Let’s kick start with our wonderful hygienist Nicole! 🤩

🇬🇷 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
I was born in Athens, moved to Newcastle where I spent most of my time growing up and have been in Edinburgh for the last 10 years.

My favourite food is a Greek dish called Pastitsio, it’s a comfort food that reminds me of my childhood. I also love Ramen 🍜

Outside of work I love solo travelling and going to gigs and festivals with friends. I go to the gym regularly and practice self care by going for regular facials 🧖🏼‍♀️

🦷 🪥 My top oral hygiene tip would be:
We say it all the time for a reason, using your interdental aids! Using floss or interdental brushes will remove up to 40% of the plaque that your toothbrush doesn’t… Oh and mouthwash isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

World Oral Health! 🦷 💫

We are joining the global movement to prioritize oral health as a gateway to overall wellness. Did you know that taking care of your teeth helps prevent systemic health issues?

Small habits, big difference:

• Brush twice daily with fluoride toothpaste 🦷
• Floss or use interdental brushes to get the 40% your toothbrush misses!
• Book your check-up

Let’s make 2026 the year for healthier, happier smiles!
