Is your snoring really ‘just snoring’?

For many people, snoring is something they simply accept. Perhaps they've done it for years, or they feel embarrassed to talk about it.

However, persistent snoring can cause poor-quality sleep and have a wider impact on how you feel during the day. The additional strain on your body can even raise the risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and chronic fatigue.

Here are 5 signs your snoring shouldn't be ignored:

😴 You're tired during the day
💨 Your partner notices pauses in your breathing
🤕 You regularly wake with headaches or a dry mouth
🧠 You struggle to concentrate or feel foggy
💔 Your snoring is affecting your relationship

The good news is you don't have to put up with it! Our experienced clinicians can assess your snoring, help identify what causes it, and discuss suitable treatment options.

"My tooth doesn't hurt anymore, so I thought it was fine."

It's an understandable assumption.

But a change in dental pain doesn't always mean the underlying problem has resolved.

If you've experienced persistent toothache, sensitivity, swelling or another noticeable change, it's worth speaking to your dentist, even if the symptoms seem to improve.

🦷 Concerned about a change in your teeth or gums?

Contact the practice for advice.

Do your gums bleed when you brush your teeth?

It's easy to dismiss occasional bleeding, particularly if it isn't painful.

But bleeding gums can be a sign of inflammation and shouldn't simply become something you get used to.

Your dentist or hygienist can assess your gum health, identify areas that may need more attention and provide advice on cleaning effectively at home.

🪥 If you've noticed changes in your gums or you're due a hygiene appointment, contact the practice to arrange a visit.

Over time, getting to know patients and their families helps build trust and allows care to be tailored to their individual needs. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

It's something many patients tell us they value most about their dental practice.

Holiday packing usually means thinking about clothes, passports and sun cream. 🧳

If you're currently having orthodontic treatment or whitening your teeth, it's worth making sure your aligners, retainers or whitening trays make it into the suitcase too. 🦷

Keeping up your routine while you're away can help you get the best possible result from treatment.

Heading away this summer? Contact the practice if you'd like advice before you travel. ✈️

When your teeth feel fine, it can be tempting to put off a dental appointment.

However, many dental problems develop gradually and don't cause symptoms straight away.

Regular examinations allow us to monitor your oral health, spot concerns early and help prevent more complex treatment later on.

If it's been a while since your last appointment, our team would be happy to help you get back on track.

Contact the practice on 0131 552 4830 to arrange an appointment, or book online at https://inverleithdentalcare.co.uk/contact/

Did you know that Vitamin D is essential for more than just strong bones? ☀️

It plays a critical role in your oral health by helping your body absorb calcium, which is vital for building and maintaining strong teeth and jawbones.

But its benefits go deeper:
✨ Immune Support: Vitamin D helps regulate your immune system, which can reduce the risk of gum inflammation (gingivitis).
✨ Enamel Defence: It supports the cells that produce enamel, your teeth’s first line of defence against decay.

Especially here in Scotland, where sunshine can be scarce, it’s important to be mindful of your Vitamin D levels. A simple blood test can reveal your status, and it’s a conversation worth having at your next check-up.
