Seeing .billgergis recent post about decoronated teeth has prompted me to revisit my abandoned instagram page. The patient was adamant that she didn’t want an extraction of the tooth and I was feeling adventurous that day, she is well aware of the long term potential risks. Deep margin elevation with Gergis matrix after a gingivectomy. Trying to save this tooth was a bit taxing but we keep learning 💪🏽

Emax onlays on UR5,6. Decided to preserve the MP cusp of the 6. Had a bit of trouble seating the two onlays together so did the little trick learnt from with floss and articulation paper.

The patient was very pleased and couldn’t bear to look at the before photo😆. I think it’s high time to invest in my professional camera set up but this will do for now 😅

I can’t remember the last time I’ve prepped a tooth for a full coverage crown. I see broken teeth like this almost daily in my practice and with time have been able to prep these teeth for onlays more confidently than just repairing or replacing with composite.
