From trainee to qualified dental nurse — meet Amber!

Amber has officially completed her dental nursing qualification with Infills Academy, and we caught up with her to hear about her journey.

From balancing coursework with working in practice, to preparing for assessments and finally qualifying, Amber shares the challenges she faced, the support that helped her along the way, and what she hopes to do next.

Meet Sophie 👋

Next up in our Meet the Team series is Sophie — one of our Dental Nurse Assessors, who you'll also still find out in practice locuming with Infills Agency.

Sophie started out as a dental nurse herself, before gaining experience in compliance and practice management and eventually moving into tutoring and assessing. Earlier this year, she also completed her Level 3 CAVA qualification.

And despite now spending plenty of time supporting the next generation of dental nurses, she hasn't abandoned the surgery just yet!

-What's her favourite part of working with Infills?
The people, the variety and seeing that moment when something finally clicks for a learner.

-Her advice for trainee dental nurses?
Ask questions! You're training — nobody expects you to know everything straight away. And don't take feedback personally. Use it, have another go and keep going.

-Outside of dentistry?
Sophie has a dog called Trixy who apparently thinks 4am is a perfectly reasonable time for a walk. Sophie strongly disagrees.

-And a slightly unexpected fact...
She can't go to sleep without listening to a Harry Potter audiobook. She's listened to them so many times that Harry, Ron and Hermione are essentially part of her bedtime routine at this point.

-Tea or coffee?
Coffee. Lots of it. Which, given the 4am dog walks, suddenly makes perfect sense.

Sophie also loves spending time with her husband and two children — so between family life, Trixy, assessing and locuming, we're not entirely sure when she actually sleeps. 😂

We're very lucky to have Sophie as part of both sides of Infills, supporting our learners while still keeping her hand in clinical practice. 💙
