It's a really common question we hear: 'Are clear aligners only for small adjustments?'

The answer is a resounding no! Modern systems are incredibly powerful.

We successfully use clear aligners to treat a wide range of complex orthodontic concerns, including deep overbites, underbites and severe crowding; cases that many people assume require fixed braces.

➡️ Swipe through to see the full scope of what's possible and why having a practice that offers all options (clear aligners, fixed braces and combination treatments) is essential for achieving your best result.

Did you know an oral cancer screening is part of your routine dental health check?

In this video, Hannah explains what we’re looking for and why there’s nothing to worry about.

The screening only takes a few moments. We check the soft tissues in your mouth, around your gums, your jawline and other areas for anything unusual.

Most of the time, everything looks healthy. But if something has changed, spotting it early means we can guide you on the next steps quickly and calmly.

It’s one of the many reasons regular dental health checks are so worthwhile, even when your teeth feel fine.

Did you know that when you lose a tooth, the jawbone beneath it actually starts to shrink?

This isn't just a dental issue, it can affect your overall facial structure over time.

Because the implant root fuses with your bone (Osseointegration), it continues to stimulate the bone, just like a natural tooth root would.

This means implants are the only solution that actively prevents that long-term bone loss and helps maintain the natural contour of your face.

It's an investment in your structure, not just your smile!

Here at Kingsgate Dental, we use advanced digital scanning technology to plan your treatments: from crowns and bridges to clear aligners. This allows us to map your teeth with incredible precision, ensuring a much better fit for the final restoration or aligner.

The best bit? It’s quick, mess-free and vastly improves your comfort.

Gum recession can make a tooth look longer than it used to, and it can also leave the root surface more exposed.

That exposed area is usually more sensitive than enamel, which is why some people start to notice discomfort with cold drinks, brushing or certain foods.

In this video, Aleena explains what gum recession is and why brushing pressure can play a part. Scrubbing too hard, especially around the gumline, can contribute to the gums pulling back over time.

Gentle, controlled brushing is much kinder to your gums. An electric toothbrush with a pressure sensor can also be useful if you’re not sure whether you’re pressing too firmly.

If you’ve noticed sensitivity, gum changes or teeth looking longer, mention it at your next dental health check.

If you have a preferred dentist at Kingsgate Dental, please let us know when you’re booking your appointment.

We completely understand that seeing someone familiar can feel reassuring, especially if you’re nervous or you’ve built a good relationship with a particular clinician.

In this video, Michelle explains why it’s helpful to mention this early. Some dentists may have a slightly longer wait, particularly if they specialise in certain areas, but our reception team will always talk you through the options and help find the earliest suitable appointment.

We’re here to make booking as straightforward and comfortable as possible.

Honestly, when a tooth needs a crown, we see it as an opportunity for artistry. We don't just 'cover' the tooth; we craft a custom restoration using premium, high-strength ceramics that perfectly blend into your smile.

The goal is simple: it shouldn't just be strong, it should be visually indistinguishable from a natural tooth. It’s an investment in both your chewing comfort and the enduring beauty of your smile.

Did you know your toothbrush only reaches around 60% of your tooth surfaces?

That means the spaces between your teeth need a bit of extra attention. Floss or interdental brushes can help remove plaque and food from the areas your toothbrush bristles can’t reach properly.

In this video, Hannah explains why cleaning between your teeth is such an important part of your daily routine, and how our team can help you find the right tools for your mouth.

If you’re unsure what size interdental brushes to use, or you’re finding flossing tricky, just ask at your next hygiene appointment. We’ll be happy to guide you.

Gum recession often starts quietly, but the earlier it’s spotted, the easier it is to manage.

If your teeth look a little “longer” than they used to, or you’re feeling new sensitivity, it could be a sign that the gums are beginning to pull back from the teeth.

Recession can be caused by a few things: brushing too firmly, grinding or gum disease that’s gone unnoticed. None of these are things to ignore, but with the right care, they’re manageable.

At Kingsgate Dental, we check your gum health at every appointment and can help you protect your gums with tailored advice, gentle cleaning techniques and preventative care.

If you’ve noticed changes, it’s worth booking a dental health check.

Early action keeps your gums healthier for the long term.
