The lower teeth were unfortunately beyond saving and required extraction, while the upper teeth were carefully preserved through meticulous periodontal treatment.

One of the most important parts of the process is moisture control. We use a rubber sheet placed around the teeth, and sometimes the lips, to keep everything completely dry throughout the procedure

This might sound unusual, but it is actually one of the most crucial steps in ensuring a strong, reliable bond and a long-lasting result

Composite simply does not adhere well in the presence of moisture, so keeping the area dry makes all the difference to how your bonding looks and how long it lasts 💜

As for how long the appointment takes, that depends entirely on the number of teeth being treated, which is something we discuss with you in detail during your treatment planning appointment

It is one of the most common questions Fraser gets asked, and in this video, he breaks down exactly what to look out for and why wisdom tooth removal is sometimes the best option 🤍

The biggest reason wisdom teeth are removed is because they are impacted, meaning the tooth is tilted or positioned in a way that means it simply cannot come through properly due to lack of space. And when that happens, it can cause a couple of significant issues

Firstly, gum problems

Because impacted wisdom teeth are so difficult to keep clean, food, plaque and bacteria can build up and become trapped, leading to pericoronitis, an inflammation of the gum around the tooth that can be sore, swollen and sometimes infected. And because the cause is still there, it can keep recurring

Secondly, decay

Either in the wisdom tooth itself or, as Fraser shows in this video, in the tooth directly in front of it, which can then require a filling that is incredibly difficult to carry out with the wisdom tooth still in place

Sometimes removal is carried out as a preventative measure, before any of these issues even develop
