It's been a while since I've posted as I've been snowed under with casework...

Those who know me will know that I treat patients who value function and health above all, so when we restore teeth we want them to look like they belong in the mouth they're in! Ideally my patients are told they're looking well and they can't put their finger on why by their friends, and not "Oh! You've had your teeth done!"

Here we have a case where we've done some alignment and the worn teeth have been restored with composite resin. It's all about shape!

Just in time for Christmas! Functional case completed, with aligners to upright teeth and develop arches, followed by composite bonding to address wear to tooth tips and reduce black triangle gaps between teeth. This type of treatment makes a huge difference to the longevity of the overall Dentition by distributing biting forces safely.

Sometimes a few small things can really pull a smile together. Here some aligners were used to idealise the tooth positions before some composite bonding and ceramic veneers on the upper lateral incisors.

The little things add up to a big change 🤗

Problem: small lateral incisor not responding to programmed movements. Not uncommon.

Solution: "Bootstrap" method. Trim aligner, fit buttons on both sides of the tooth (elastic module as template to assist here) then use regular elastics to stretch from one button to the other, over the aligner. This will pull the tooth down into the space - make sure the patient understands the concept and can place and remove the elastic!

It can be surprising how much decay can be hiding under the surface! In this case there was decay underneath old fissure...
