Hi, I'm Wendy Mackney and welcome to Mackney photography :)

We're an award winning boutique photography studio based in the beautiful Darley Abbey Mills, Derby. Our team have over a decade of experience in portraiture, and specialise in Pregnancy, Newborns, Babies, Children, Family and Boudoir photography. LOCATION:

Only 5mins from the main City Centre of Derby, Mackney Photography is based in the beautiful English heritage site in their purpose built photography studio. Inspired by our experiences in London and New York – the studio offers the perfect combination of high ceilings for better lighting, picturesque outdoor park locations just seconds away and an abundance of ideas to really capture you and your family. Meet Ivy, our gorgeous little Baby of the Year 2026 entrant, and what an absolute sweetie she was!

Pretty in pink and full of charm, Ivy was such a joy to photograph. ✨

We especially loved that her parents brought along a few special props to personalise her portraits. Those little details can make a photoshoot feel so uniquely them... and we have to say, we absolutely loved their choice of T-shirt for the family portrait! 👕🤍

Some family moments are simply too precious not to preserve. 🤍

We recently had the absolute pleasure of welcoming Julia, her dad Patrick, and her two sons, Daniel and Aidan, into the studio for a very special family photoshoot.

Julia booked the session as a gift for her dad, wanting to give him the experience of spending this time together as a family, while also creating beautiful portraits to preserve this chapter of their lives.

And what a session it was! 🥰

Patrick has the most wonderful sense of humour, and it seems those funny bones have definitely been passed down to his grandsons! Daniel and Aidan kept the laughter flowing, and we loved seeing the joy, connection and personality that made this family so special.

For us, it was far more than simply taking photographs. It was an honour to be trusted to capture these moments at such a meaningful time for this family.

And now Julia has a beautiful collection of portraits celebrating her dad, her sons and the love they share... photographs that can be displayed proudly in their home and looked back on by generations to come. 🤍

Meet Remy, our adorable little Baby of the Year 2026 entrant, who was brought along by his adoring family for his very special photoshoot.

At just 4 months old, Remy has already mastered the art of winning hearts with that charming, happy little smile! What a joy he was to photograph. ✨

And it was just as lovely to have his loving family join him in the studio, giving us the opportunity to capture some beautiful forever family portraits too. 🤍

Meet Raven… the happiest little black Labrador! 🐾🖤

This adorable girl was such a joy to have in the studio. Happy, playful and full of puppy personality, Raven certainly kept us smiling throughout her photoshoot... and we think she rather enjoyed having all the attention too! 🥰📸

We loved capturing Raven alongside her favourite humans, because pets really are such an important part of the family. 🤍

And now her human parents have these incredible portraits to display with love in their home and treasure for a lifetime.

Pure gentlemanly vibes with just the right amount of cuteness. 🤍✨

Baby Bertie was an absolute joy to welcome into the studio for his newborn photoshoot.

This handsome little fella gave us the best of both worlds.. peacefully snoozing one moment, then wide eyed and curious as he took in his new surroundings the next. 🥰

We absolutely love the beautiful tones of this session, which perfectly suited Bertie's little gentlemanly look. From his sleepy expressions to those gorgeous curious eyes, every portrait captured a different little glimpse of his personality.

Newborn photography is all about preserving those tiny details and fleeting moments that change so quickly. The sleepy cuddles, the curious eyes and that unmistakable brand new baby feeling. 🤍

We don’t use the stereotypical Christmas tree and tinsel backdrops.. instead we create beautiful, timeless family portraits with the option to add a touch of festive sparkle 💛

Bring along your Christmas jumper, tartan patterns or festive accessories and we’ll capture some classic portraits and a few Christmassy ones too.
