Meet Richard Smith – Our newest private dentist, now welcoming new private patients.

We’re excited to welcome Richard Smith to Bupa Dental Care Darlington. With a strong background in general and restorative dentistry, Rich brings advanced skills in Endodontics, supported by a Master’s from the Eastman Dental Institute and a Postgraduate Diploma in Restorative Dentistry. He’s also currently completing a Certificate in Aesthetic Dentistry, further enhancing the comprehensive care he provides.

Rich joins us after 21 years in the Armed Forces, where he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel and Senior Dental Officer, having served around the world delivering care and leading teams in diverse and challenging environments.

Outside of dentistry, Rich is a former Great Britain athlete, having completed the Marathon des Sables and several Ironman triathlons. Family focused Rich now finds joy running with his children, Max and Elsie, and escaping to the Lake District for open-water swimming, mountain biking, and exploring the fells.

Meet Anna, who has over 15 years of experience in both private and NHS dentistry, Anna has been committed to delivering exceptional dental care since graduating from Newcastle University in 2009. Her diverse background has also included providing dental services to the UK Armed Forces as an MOD Dentist and offering her expertise during trips to Tanzania with the charity Bridge2Aid.

Passionate about making patients feel at ease, Anna provides a comprehensive range of treatments including aesthetic tooth-coloured restorations, crowns, bridges, dentures and always prioritizing her patients long term oral health above all.

Based in Darlington, Anna enjoys a busy family life with her husband, their two children and a very large dog- a Rhodesian ridgeback, named Samson. 🐕🥰
