Wow, what an incredible night! I’m absolutely humbled and honored to share that we have won three prestigious awards at the Private Dentistry Awards – Digital Practice, Practice of the Year for the South West of England, and the biggest award of the night, the Overall Practice of the Year UK-wide.

None of this would have been possible without the support of our incredible team, who continue to push boundaries, work tirelessly, and provide the best care possible to our patients. BU****IT!!!

Let’s do a reality check on a few things and get it out there!!

-I’m not a good enough dentist for private practice and the patients won’t like me!

Let’s not kid ourselves…we can all see Dentistry is changing!

We as a profession are at a cross roads right now and the public are analysing us more than ever! Like it or not the private sector has become the new route for all those that can afford it but due to so many experiencing private dentistry for the first time we can either make or break that relationship!

With a positive experience they will understand the value of what you can offer. With a bad experience we would’ve damaged the public faith in the profession even more. It’s imperative that we as a profession show the public what we can offer without the constraints of the current nhs so they can see the actual true value of dentistry.

As chair of the BDA Western Counties and founder of the Young Dentist Group South West 8 years ago I’ve been mentoring young associates into private practice for many years and founded Private Dental Mentor (PDM) last year for this exact purpose. This is about more than just a course for me but about investing in the future generations to help elevate UK Dentistry to a higher level over the next few years and show the public just how good private dentistry can be if done well.

Last Thursday we had the Periodontal case assessment and management course with the always talented as your lecturer for this course.

We had a big turn out for this course with many saying it was very informative and really change their perspective on how they will treat patients in the future.

Day 1 of 2 of this months lecture with the super talented .guvbhirth where he is teaching a course on Anterior Composite. It has been an amazing first day with everyone who has attended today. Hope you all have learnt a lot today with a lot more coming in tomorrow’s lecture.

Back last year I had the real pleasure of treating Lucinda Watkins where she wanted Composite Bonding to give her the prefect smile for her wedding day.

It is a real treat when you get to bring it all together with smile design as it completely tops of a person smiles and as you can see we certainly was able to achieve a beautiful smile here with with Lucinda.

Giving the patient exactly what they need is always at the top of my list when considering what’s the best step forward is.

In this case the patient opted to have Invisalign to straighten and align their teeth 🦷 as it is much more controlled and less painful way of aligning the teeth in comparison to metal braces in this instance.

On top of that they opted to have bleaching done to whiten the teeth which tops of their brand new smile. It’s always a pleasure to work on such a case to give everyone I see the confidence to smile again for whatever the occasion.

A few weeks ago the 2024 BDA South west dental conference took place in Bristol. It was a smashing success and I would like to thank everyone who attended the conference on the 17th February 2024.
