ITI Section UK & Ireland

ITI Section UK & Ireland The International Team for Implantology As an independent academic association, it actively promotes networking and exchange among its membership.

The International Team for Implantology (ITI) is a unique network that unites professionals around the world from every field of implant dentistry and related tissue regeneration. The International Team for Implantology (ITI) was founded in 1980 by 12 experts planning ahead for the future of their field. Their objective was an alliance of specialists to pursue research and development in an import

ant and as yet untapped medical area on a voluntary and idealistic basis. Today, the ITI has more than 8,000 Fellows and Members. Through its growing number of national Sections, the ITI ensures the exchange of expertise and know-how via a modern, quality-conscious end efficient network. Over 30 years the ITI has built a reputation for scientific rigor coupled with a strong patient focus. The organisation supports the premise of well documented treatment guidelines backed by extensive clinical testing and long-term results. The ITI’s Fellows, who form the core of the organisation, contribute their time, energy and skills and are driven by a strong sense of responsibility and idealism. The principal architects of the ITI were Professor André Schroeder from Bern, and Dr. H.C. Fritz Straumann from Waldenburg. According to Professor Schroeder, “Medical research needs independence, open space and opportunities for discussion.” These three components are cornerstones of the ITI and have contributed significantly to the rapid development and success of implant dentistry. Membership is growing, the tally of publications and educational events is rising and the organization has been restructured for the future. However, the ITI’s two fundamental principles remain unchanged: scientific independence and non-profit-oriented thinking. At the heart of the ITI lie science, idealism and concern for patients. This is guaranteed by the ITI’s Fellows and Members who volunteer their time and expertise on behalf of the ITI and its mission.

“Come in for a cup of coffee, try attending one session and I’m sure you’ll keep coming back for more.”

Dr. Mishika Arora, specialist periodontist, has been to two Young ITI Spotlight events and several ITI Study Clubs and this is what she has to say about it.

Every session is different. Every case opens your mind to a new way of thinking. And somewhere along the way, you make great friends too.

If you’ve been putting it off - this is your sign.

When the President of the ITI stands up to argue a clinical position, you listen.

Prof. Ronny Jung has spent decades at the intersection of clinical practice and implant science. His work on hard and soft tissue management has shaped protocols used by clinicians around the world. He's not just a researcher - he's a Clinic Director who sees complex cases every day.

At the ITI Congress UK & Ireland 2026, he goes head-to-head with Dr. Istvan Urban in the congress's flagship debate: Short Implants vs Bone Regeneration.

His position: short implants. Urban's position: bone regeneration.

Both presenting evidence. Both being challenged. Live Q&A. You walk away with a clearer clinical framework.

This is congress at its best.

Last month’s Young ITI UK & Ireland event.

A room full of dental professionals at every stage of their career - first-time presenters sharing their very first implant cases, experienced clinicians presenting full-arch treatments, and everything in between.

Every speaker gave up their time to prepare a case and share it with the room. That’s what makes this community what it is.

One of the motivational talks was a genuine reminder that the hard work behind the scenes - the stuff nobody sees - is what gets you where you’re going.

Young ITI is for everyone. Whatever stage you’re at, there’s a place for you here. 💙

Last Tuesday, the Newcastle ITI Study Club welcomed Ashely Byrne for an evening exploring the advantages of digital workflows in dental laboratories and the interest from across the North East was remarkable.

The room brought together a brilliant mix of dentists and laboratory technicians, which made for exactly the kind of cross-discipline conversation that moves the whole profession forward.

When clinicians and labs are in the same room talking about the same challenges, great things happen.

A huge thank you to Ashely for making the journey and delivering such a well-received session.

The Newcastle team couldn’t have asked for a better evening!

This is what Young ITI looks like from the inside 👇

Last month the Young ITI UK & Ireland event brought together a brilliant mix of dental professionals and this is what one attendee had to say about it.

The day featured a wide range of clinical talks, from first-time presenters sharing their very first implant cases, to more experienced clinicians discussing full-arch treatments. Every single speaker gave up their time to put a case together and share it with the room and that generosity is what makes these events so special.

There was also a motivational talk that was a powerful reminder of something easy to forget: so much hard work happens behind the scenes while we’re all working towards our goals.

Whether you’re just starting out in implant dentistry or looking to push your skills further - the Young ITI is for you.
