Our clinic is closed today, Friday 24th January, due to red weather warnings. We will reopen on Monday. If you have a dental emergency, please call 01383 511242, and our team will be able to assist you remotely.

We want to give our staff a well earned break over the festive season so will be providing emergency care ONLY should you have severe toothache lasting a few days or facial swelling.

Both practices will be open as normal. 19th December to 23rd December.

Our Kirkcaldy practice will close at 5pm on 23rd December and reopen at 9am on Wednesday 4th January. Please call 01592 260330 and follow the instructions if you have severe toothache or facial swelling.

If you have severe toothache or facial swelling on the days we are closed, Call Cowdenbeath on 01383 511242 and follow the answer machine instructions . On the days we are open please call between 9am and 10am if you have toothache so we can triage you. Appointments will be allocated on a strict first come first served, same day basis. We will be unable to offer you a choice of days and times to attend.

We are looking for a qualified dental nurse for 2 full days a week.The ability to work additional days when required would be an advantage. This position is in our Cowdenbeath practice but you will be expected to work between Cowdenbeath and Kirkcaldy when required. We are pleased to announce that
Dr Ashraf Ftis will be taking over from Dr David Crawford as of Monday 11th July 2022.

Ashraf has been working as a general dentist in Shetland for over a year. He qualified as a dentist in 2006 from Tripoli University and went on to further his qualifications by gaining a Masters degree in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery from Cairo university in 2010. He then held positions as a dentist/Oral surgeon in various hospitals and dental practices in Egypt and Libya. He located to UK in January 2019 to continue his research work for a PhD in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery but this was interrupted by the pandemic.
Ashraf is looking forward to meeting all his new patients. If you were a patient of David Crawford and do not have a check up appointment arranged, Please arrange an appointment with Ashraf for July onwards.

We are looking for a trainee dental nurse for our Cowdenbeath practice. This is a full time position Monday to Friday 8.45am to 5.30pm. Full mentor training on the job will be provided. You will be expected to complete workbooks, have study days with your mentor then sit an exam at the end. Usually after 12 to 18 months.
As a dental nurse you help the dentist with treatment, are responsible for infection control, stock and clean your surgery, clean and sterilise instruments and some reception work.

We will be closed from 5pm on Thursday 23rd December until Wednesday 5th January for all routine appointments and enquiries. This is to allow our staff some much needed rest after another year of working within Covid protocols.

If you have severe toothache or facial swelling that cannot wait until the new year, call the practice and listen carefully to the information on the answer machine for who to contact and when. If we need to see you, please be aware you may have to travel to different practice than your usual one.

Due to the increase in Covid 19 infections we are asking any patient who:

Has ANY respiratory illness including, sore throat, runny nose or cough,

Is awaiting the results of a PCR test or lives with someone waiting on the results of a PCR test,

Has had a confirmed Covid diagnosis or lives with someone who has had a confirmed Covid diagnosis in the past 14 days.

Has had contact with a Covid positive case in the past 10 days.

NOT TO ATTEND THE PRACTICE.

Please call us to reschedule your appointment.

When attending the practice, please attend alone and arrive as close to your appointment time as possible. Social distancing is in place, masks must be worn and hand sanitiser is available to use.
If you are able to, please take a lateral flow test before your appointment.

If you can’t make your appointment please let us know at least 24 hours beforehand. This will allow us to offer the space to someone else and avoid having to charge you a fee for a short notice cancellation or failing to attend.

Due to current restrictions we are seeing less patients per day. We also have a backlog of outstanding treatments that we are working our way through. This means our appointment books are extremely busy. Appointment availability for treatment or to see the hygienist is now around 16-20 weeks.

Please help us to help you by attending for your appointments.
