One of the best parts of dentistry? Seeing the progress.
There’s something incredibly rewarding about showing patients where they started… and just how far they’ve come. Sometimes the changes happen so gradually that people don’t realise how dramatic the transformation really is until we compare the photos side by side.
Which brings me to the part patients always laugh about… Yes, we do need to bring out the giant camera with the flash that makes it feel like you’re on a red carpet photoshoot rather than in a dental chair.
“Where do I look?”
“Do I smile normally?”
“Why is that lens so close to my face?”
Trust me, I know it feels a little awkward but those photos are invaluable. They help us plan treatment properly, monitor progress, communicate clearly and celebrate the final result together. And honestly, there’s nothing better than showing a patient their before-and-after photos and watching them realise just how much their smile (and confidence) has changed.
The camera may be intimidating, but the results are worth it.
