We’re seeing an increasing number of patients ( often surprisingly young ) with advanced dental disease and in many cases multiple problems.
The reasons are many and varied but Covid is still often mentioned as having been an obstacle to accessing routine dental care.
Even prior to Covid, only 50% of UK adults had regular preventative visits to their dentist and the most common cause for admission of a child to hospital for a general anaesthetic was dental decay !
Given the technological improvements in our ability to provide high quality dentistry, it seems like as a nation we’re not even treading water but slipping backwards in terms of dental and oral health.
It’s so much easier, nicer and to be frank cheaper to nip dental problems in the bud, whether it’s a small cavity that could if ignored result in a root canal or a minor gum problem that could turn slowly into a serious long term situation.
While we spend a lot of our working week dealing with interesting clinical challenges, it’s always nice to pick something up early, whether a simple cavity or skin cancer ( yes, that’s part of our examination and we pick up a surprising amount ).
Time for a check up ?
In any event, we’ll take care of you at Dentistry with Integrity
