When this patient came to us following a traumatic assault, his two front teeth had been severely damaged, with lacerations and the remains of glass inside his mouth.

Beyond the pain of the physical injury, dental trauma can have a significant impact on confidence, comfort and everyday life.

Nadia carefully assessed and treated the initial injuries, completing temporary fillings to immediately repair the front teeth.

As the patient’s usual dentist, Cerys then took over, reviewing his progress weekly during the healing phase, before completing the definitive restorations of UL1 and UR1 less than 3 weeks later.

Dental trauma cases require both precision and attention to detail. Cerys has been able to restore strength, function, and aesthetics, whilst achieving a seamless match with the surrounding teeth.

The final result is a natural-looking restoration that allows the patient to smile and eat with confidence again.

Cases like this remind us that dentistry is about more than teeth - it’s about helping people to move forward after difficult experiences.

Changes to Our Prescribing Policy
To ensure patient safety and provide care in line with current medical guidance, our practice will no longer prescribe medication in advance for the following situations:
• ✈️ Fear of flying or travel-related anxiety
• 🧲 Claustrophobia or anxiety related to MRI scans
• 🦷 Anxiety related to dental procedures

Why Are We Making This Change?
Medications sometimes requested for these situations (such as sedatives) can:
• Cause drowsiness and impair alertness
• Affect coordination and judgement
• Interact with other medications or health conditions
• Increase risks in environments such as flights or medical procedures
Because of these risks, prescribing these medications in these settings is not considered safe or appropriate.
What Should You Do Instead?
If you are anxious about an upcoming flight, scan, or dental procedure:
• Please speak directly with the relevant provider (airline, hospital, or dentist)
• They can offer appropriate advice, support, or alternative options
• Many services have specific support pathways for anxious patients
