Important Update: Prescribing for Travel, Scans, and Dental Procedures
Changes to Our Prescribing Policy
To ensure patient safety and provide care in line with current medical guidance, our practice will no longer prescribe medication in advance for the following situations:
• ✈️ Fear of flying or travel-related anxiety
• 🧲 Claustrophobia or anxiety related to MRI scans
• 🦷 Anxiety related to dental procedures

Why Are We Making This Change?
Medications sometimes requested for these situations (such as sedatives) can:
• Cause drowsiness and impair alertness
• Affect coordination and judgement
• Interact with other medications or health conditions
• Increase risks in environments such as flights or medical procedures
Because of these risks, prescribing these medications in these settings is not considered safe or appropriate.
What Should You Do Instead?
If you are anxious about an upcoming flight, scan, or dental procedure:
• Please speak directly with the relevant provider (airline, hospital, or dentist)
• They can offer appropriate advice, support, or alternative options
• Many services have specific support pathways for anxious patients

Ten members of the Hayden Dental team travelled to Cardiff last night to represent the practice at the inaugural Welsh Dental Awards, and celebrate all the teams and individuals who work so hard to deliver the very best dental care for patients across Wales.

We were so proud and honoured to be recognised, with James being awarded Practice Principal of the Year, and Nadia and Sara being Highly Commended for their excellence in facial aesthetics.

James dedicated his award to our fantastic team, whose support, talent and commitment are at the heart of everything we do. Thank you to all our patients for trusting us with your care, and for being our biggest cheerleaders!

James has been ‘on tour’ the last few days, with a visit to Createch, near San Sebastián, along with five other implant dentists from the UK.

Createch custom design and manufacture precision titanium parts for dental implant restorations such as implant-retained dentures and bridges.

As a dental implantologist and ITI (International Team for Implantology) Study Club Director , it was a real privilege to experience precision engineering and innovation firsthand, and exchange ideas with such passionate industry experts.

The group were treated to incredible local hospitality by Straumann and Createch founder Xabi Egurbide, which made the visit even more special.

A truly memorable experience and a valuable chance to deepen professional relationships, as well as sampling plenty of Pinxtos, checking out the mountain trails, and squeezing in a cheeky surf for good measure. 🍤 🚵🏻 🏄‍♂️ 🏖️
