Following our attendance at the TD Summit training and CPD day, the team enjoyed an amazing evening at the TD Awards in the Bristol Aerospace Museum - home of the last Concorde to fly.

The practice were up for two awards - Practice Experience of the Year, and our outstanding apprentice Nurse Emma Rees was up for Apprentice of the Year. We were Highly Commended ⭐ in both categories! We are saddened to announce the passing of former practice owner David Watson-James, who passed away peacefully in his sleep on 14/09/2026.

Many of our patients will have been treated by David (or Mr Watson-James to many) and have many fond memories of him, whether that's through dental treatment or discussing many of the hobbies that David enjoyed.

A hugely talented individual, he excelled in the world of dentistry and achieved an OBE for his services to the industry. Following retirement, he was still visible in the practice, living upstairs, and often spent time catching up with past patients and friends if he wasn't gardening, woodworking or playing golf.

To the team here, he was an inspiration and true friend who would do anything he could to help, and he will be sorely missed by us all at Pontcanna Dental Care. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Simon and Sarah and the wider family. Our thoughts are with you.

We will announce the funeral arrangements as soon as we have them.

RIP David.
