National Lockdown Announcement 31st October 2020

By now you are probably aware, the Prime Minister recently announced a second national lockdown due to the rising number of cases of Covid-19.

You will be pleased to know, Burwell Dental will remain open!

There are no restrictions with regards to medical /dental treatment and you are actively encouraged to keep your appointments.

Just to reassure you, we have excellent infection control procedures along with a robust triaging policy to ensure the safety of both patients and staff.

The treatment rooms are prepared prior to each appointment with all surfaces disinfected after each patient. The air purification/exchange units will continue to be used throughout the day in each surgery. We have sourced PPE and unlike the start of the Pandemic (March 2020 in the UK), there is no shortage.

However, if you are worried about your attendance, please contact us to discuss your concerns and we can always postpone your treatment until a later date.

We continue to recommend that patients in the high-risk category delay non-essential treatment until further guidance has been given by the relevant authorities.

Just to re-iterate, when you arrive at the Practice:

We advise that you wear a mask at all times while inside the dental practice and only remove your mask at the request of the dental professional.
We will continue to check your temperature and if this is above 37.8c - you will be advised to rebook your treatment and to follow government guidelines.
Please do not arrive more than 5 minutes early for an appointment due to social distancing guidelines.
As you enter the building you will need to use the alcohol disinfectant rub to disinfectant your hands.
In the meantime, please stay safe and contact us if you have any questions.

Important Announcement
The re-opening of Burwell Dental

We are pleased to announce the phased return to practice from 22nd June 2020
We recently welcomed an announcement from our Chief Dental Officer to begin the phase of reopening our practice – news that we’ve been waiting for since we went into lockdown.
It is however vital that we resume our services to patients in a safe and effective way and that we work within the current national guidelines which include the fitting of Personal Protective Equipment.
Whilst we continue to source the right protective equipment that keeps both staff and patients safe, we will phase our reopening.
Clearly, there are many of you who are eager to be seen and we will endeavour to get to you all as soon as we can. The practice is currently open for telephone enquiries only, so should you need to speak to a member of the practice, please contact us by calling 01638 741350. Please do not attend the practice in person or without an appointment.
Initially we will be prioritising those patients who have had or are still in severe pain - we have a list of patients who have contacted us to use the emergency triage service during the lockdown period and we will be contacting you shortly to discuss your current needs.

We have been overwhelmed by your support during the lockdown period and ask that you bear with us that little bit longer, after which we hope to welcome you back into the practice.

In the meantime, please keep safe and look out for further communication from us!

Kind regards
The Burwell Dental Team.

Burwell Dental Update - 3rd June 2020

A heartfelt appreciation to all our patients for your support, understanding and patience as we deal with the current health pandemic.

The government has announced that dental practices can reopen from the 8th of June provided they have everything in place to do so to ensure safety for our patients.

Dental practices are advised to refer to the National guidelines that have just been published, carry out Covid related risk assessments and adapt to the new working pattern to ensure safe delivery of services to our patients whilst also protecting the staff.

We are working tirelessly to comply with the protocols, prepare the practice for reopening, provide additional staff training to work in the new set up and procure adequate stocks of safety equipment necessary to receive patients safely.

The date of reopening will be influenced by all these factors falling into place.
We are working extremely hard to ensure we are able to resume as soon as possible.

All current routine appointments will stay cancelled and we will be in contact as soon as we are able to reschedule them. Notification of cancellation of your appointment is not required.

When we re-open, priority will be given to stabilise patients with urgent issues working through the list of patients that needed us during the closure and our plan members to be served prior to seeing our existing patients.

The capacity for the patient flow is likely to be reduced so we may only be able to see lesser number of patients per day than before the pandemic. This will increase our waiting times but we will try and work to our best to accommodate our patients as safely as we can.

Plan members – please be reassured that your plan being annual will retain all the benefits and will be served to deliver the same to you over the course of the coming months as high priority. We are considering extending our hours should the need arise to fulfil this.

Thank you for your patience and we hope to see you all as soon as we have prepared your practice to welcome you to be treated in a safe environment.

We, the Burwell team are in anticipation to embrace the new normal, serving the community even better than ever before.

For Emergencies please continue to call the practice on 01638 741350 for advice and information as we continue to triage.

A very heartfelt thankyou to our patients for being understanding about the cancellations to your appointments and do hope you are able to appreciate that these measures taken are in the best interest of patients and staff safety in this situation of crisis.
