📢 NHS PATIENT REGISTRATION UPDATE 📢

A large number of our phone calls are currently regarding NHS registrations, so we would like to clarify the process following the NHS contract changes introduced over the last two years.

Unfortunately, dental practices are no longer able to manually register NHS patients directly through reception.

If you do not currently have an NHS dentist, you must register via the NHS Dental Access Portal using the link below:

❗ Please do not contact reception regarding NHS registration requests, as we are unable to add patients manually or assist further with the portal process.

For patients who have accepted an offer and have been allocated a place at our practice through the portal:

✅ We will contact you directly.

We receive a set number of patients each month from the Health Board and therefore onboard patients in stages to ensure we can accommodate appointments appropriately for the month ahead.

Please note, until we officially receive your details from the Health Board confirming your allocated space, we are unable to accept or book you into the practice.

We appreciate your patience and understanding whilst we work within the current NHS system changes.

If you are a registered NHS patient within our practice we now require your NHS number as part of the new Welsh NHS dental contract. We would appreciate if you could have this information ready before your next appointment with us.
This information can be found by contacting your GP, the NHS app, any recent NHS letters/prescription or using the link below.

Following the General Dental Services (GDS) contract changes in April 2026, we can no longer directly accept registration of new patients.
To access NHS dental treatment please use the Dental Access Portal (DAP) https://dhcw.nhs.wales/product-directory/our-digital-services/dental-access-portal/
Other changes in the contract state that patients who have not attended the practice for a period of more than 36 months must be delisted from the practice’s patient list. If you have not visited the practice within the last 36 months and would still like to access NHS dental services, please register on the Dental Access Portal where you will be allocated to a practice for treatment.

🚨 New NHS Dental Access Portal from 1st April🚨
All NHS practice providers are now instructed to direct any patients seeking to be registered with an NHS practice through to their new Wales NHS Dental Access portal.
What does this mean?.....
The new Dental Access Portal (DAP) means patients in Wales wanting to register for routine NHS dental care, can now only go through the Portal, where NHS practice providers, are asked to reserve space to see a few patients per week.
It centralizes access across the nation and ensures a fairer, more streamlined process for everyone. 🌐
Key points:
- Available for anyone 16+ (parents can apply for under 16s).
- You must live in Wales or attend a Welsh GP practice.
- If you haven’t had routine NHS dental care in the last four years, you can register.
Going forward, the practice will not be taking any further NHS patients on, instead all new enquiries, patients in dental pain, will need to go through this portal service or ring 111.

Important Announcement for NHS Patients regarding Dental Charges in Wales from 1/4/2024

We would like to inform all our valued NHS patients about an increase in NHS dental prices from 1/4/2024. Please note that this change does not affect patients who are eligible for exemption.

We want to emphasize that these price increases are not retained by the dental practice or the dentists themselves.
The increased prices are set by the Welsh government and from the 1st of April 2024 are as follows:

🔹 Band 1, which includes basic check-ups, will increase from £14.70 to £20.00.
🔹 Band 2, which covers treatments like fillings, will increase from £47.00 to £60.00.
🔹 Band 3, which includes services like dentures, will increase from £203 to £260

Additionally, urgent care charges will increase from £14.70 to £30.00.

We understand times are difficult for a lot of people and know that people have to budget more often and we wanted to be as transparent as possible with our much valued patients.
