If you have visited our practice lately, you may have heard your dentist talk about INTERDENTAL BRUSHES 🩷❤️🧡💛💚🩵

So, what are they, you ask? Interdental brushes, AKA TePe brushes, are small brushes designed to clean the spaces between your teeth where regular toothbrushes can’t reach.

To use them, choose the right size brush for your teeth. Gently insert the brush between your teeth near the gum line and move it back and forth to remove plaque and food particles. Rinse the brush with water after each use, and for longevity, clean them with liquid hand soap.

TePe brushes come in a range of sizes, from very fine to larger brushes. If the brush feels too tight, size down to avoid damaging your gums. If it moves too easily without resistance, size up for a better clean. It’s normal to need multiple sizes for different areas of your mouth.

Use interdental brushes once a day, preferably before brushing your teeth. Floss can be used for tighter spaces where the smallest brush doesn’t fit.

Why are they essential? They remove up to 40% more plaque than brushing alone, help prevent gum disease, cavities, and bad breath, and are particularly useful for those with braces, implants, or bridges.
