Thinking about brightening your smile but not sure what to expect? Here are some of the questions we’re asked most often about tooth whitening at Esk Dental Care.

🤍 Is tooth whitening safe?
When carried out by a qualified dental professional, tooth whitening is a safe and effective way to achieve a lighter, brighter smile.

🤍 Does whitening toothpaste whiten my teeth?
Whitening toothpaste mainly removes superficial staining from the surface of your teeth. It doesn’t change the natural colour of your teeth.

🤍 Will tooth whitening make my teeth sensitive?
Some people experience temporary sensitivity during or after whitening. This is usually mild and short-lived.

🤍 How long will my results last?
This varies from person to person. Good oral hygiene and limiting staining foods and drinks such as tea and coffee can help maintain your results.

🤍 Will whitening work on crowns, veneers or fillings?
Tooth whitening works on natural teeth. Existing crowns, veneers and fillings will not whiten, which is why an assessment beforehand is important.

🤍 Who can legally carry out tooth whitening?
Tooth whitening can only legally be carried out by qualified dental professionals. Your dentist can assess your oral health and suitability before recommending the most appropriate option for you.

We’re pleased to share our updated hygienist working days and hours, making it even easier to find an appointment time that works for you.

You don’t need to be a registered patient at our practice to see our hygienists. Whether you’re looking for a one-off hygiene appointment or regular visits, you’re very welcome to book with us.

We also offer a hygienist plan, allowing you to spread the cost of regular hygiene appointments with monthly payments.

📅 Mondays: 9:30am – 5:00pm
📅 Thursdays: 9:00am – 4:30pm
📅 Occasional Fridays: 8:30am – 1:30pm

💙 Claire
📅 Mondays: 9:30am – 1:00pm
📅 Tuesdays: 9:00am – 4:00pm
📅 Wednesdays: 9:00am – 5:00pm

Our hygiene appointments are carried out using EMS Airflow®, which combines air, warm water and fine powder to help remove plaque, staining and biofilm.

Whether you’re looking to maintain your smile, remove staining or simply give your teeth and gums some extra care, we’d love to welcome you. ✨

👑 What should you do if your crown falls out over the weekend?

It can be worrying if your crown comes loose, but in most cases there's no need to panic.
Here's what you should do:

🦷 Keep the crown safe and bring it with you when you visit us.
🪥 If needed, gently rinse the crown with water.
🍽️ Try to avoid chewing on that side of your mouth.
🥜 Avoid sticky, hard or chewy foods until it can be checked.
❄️ If the tooth feels sensitive, avoid very hot or very cold food and drinks.

❌ Please don't use superglue or household adhesives to try to stick the crown back on.
When we're next open, give us a call and we'll arrange for one of our team to assess it.
