Meet Dr Zaheda Mehrali — one of our General Dentists at Barkhill, and the person many of our most anxious patients ask for by name.

Zaheda graduated from the University of Birmingham with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery, then went on to complete two postgraduate diplomas in Restorative and Operative Dentistry under internationally acclaimed dentist Dr Paul Tipton. She’s the kind of clinician who’s never quite finished learning — always investing in the latest techniques so her patients get the best of modern dentistry. 🦷

Her real passion, though, is helping anxious patients feel comfortable in the chair. From hypnotherapy to IV sedation, Zaheda has the training and the patience to turn appointments that used to feel impossible into ones you can actually relax through.

From a young age, Dr Islam knew he wanted to help people feel more confident. That passion led him to qualify as a dentist at the Alexandria School of Dentistry in 2010, and it’s still what drives him today.

Here at Barkhill, Dr Islam is one of our associate dentists, with a special interest in:

Restorative dentistry
Crown and bridge work

He completed his Master’s in Fixed Prostheses in 2021 and regularly attends further dental education programmes across the UK — all so his patients receive the very best care possible.

Ian’s path into dentistry took him from the Royal Air Force — where he learned the power of preventative care — all the way to the United States, training in dental implants under one of the pioneers of the field. Decades on, he’s still doing what he set out to do as a schoolboy: working with people, not paper, and creating healthy, functional, beautiful smiles. 🦷

We had a fantastic time at the weekend attending the Dentistry Showcase
2026 at the NEC with some of the team members from Barkhill Dental Clinic 💫

It was a great opportunity to explore the latest developments in dentistry, catch up with colleagues, and see just how many new gadgets/software the dental realm can invent each year! 😅

We were all genuinely taken aback by how prevalent digital dentistry has become across the showcase - from advanced scanning systems to Al-based software supporting diagnostics, clinical record keeping, workflow efficiency and even reception functionality. It really highlighted how rapidly technology is reshaping everyday clinical practice.

A special mention to our principal dentist, lan Wellings, who was ecstatic to be surrounded by such passionate individuals (fairly sure he wanted to bring half the exhibition stands back to the practice with us)! ❣️

Always nice to step away from the clinic, learn something new, and spend time with a great team. Looking forward to putting some of what we learned into practice at Barkhill Dental Clinic 🔥
