Not every patient is ready for TADs or invasive mechanics from day one — and that’s completely okay 🤍

Some patients are afraid of mini-screws, others simply don’t want injections or more invasive procedures during orthodontic treatment.

As orthodontist, I still need to offer solutions that help them feel comfortable, relaxed, and confident enough to begin treatment.

That’s where appliances like the Transpalatal Arch (TPA) can play an important role ✨

• reinforces anchorage
• controls molar movement
• maintains arch width
• supports space management

THIS is why interceptive orthodontics matters.

These cases should never be dismissed with:
“Let’s wait until all the permanent teeth erupt.”

In the early mixed dentition stage, problems like:

* anterior crossbite
* severe crowding
* functional mandibular shifts
* ectopic eruption patterns

can rapidly worsen if they are not identified and treated early.

The child in these photos is already showing:
• significant lower anterior crowding
• developing transverse/anterior bite discrepancies
• eruption guidance problems
• limited space for proper alignment

This is not simply a “cosmetic issue.”
This is a developing malocclusion during active growth.

Why waiting can be harmful

By age 12–13:

* skeletal adaptations may already be established
* crowding is often more severe
* compensations become harder to correct
* treatment becomes more complex and invasive

Early interceptive orthodontics can:
✔ guide eruption
✔ improve arch development
✔ correct functional interferences
✔ reduce the severity of future treatment
✔ sometimes avoid extractions or more aggressive mechanics later

The real issue

Too many parents are still being told:

“Come back when all the adult teeth are in.”

Meanwhile, valuable growth potential is being lost.

In many of these cases, parents themselves seek help because they feel something is wrong — even after being reassured to wait.

We need greater awareness among dental professionals that:
timing matters just as much as treatment.

Early orthodontic assessment does NOT mean every child needs braces early.
It means children with clear signs of developing malocclusion are recognized and referred at the right time.

Because in cases like anterior crossbite and severe crowding:
-waiting is not always neutral!

Orthodontic mini-screws (TADs) are changing the way we approach treatment 🤍✨

They may be small, but they are incredibly powerful – offering stable anchorage directly in the bone, which means greater control, fewer side effects, and more predictable results.

Today, everything is digitally planned – nothing is random. Placement is guided, precise, and very safe.

With TADs, we can successfully treat complex cases that were once considered impossible in orthodontics.

I’ve further specialized in the use of these mini-implants and, for more complex cases, I always collaborate with surgeons to ensure the safest and most effective outcomes for my patients 🤍
