However there has been a dental practice at 115 Court Oak Road, for well over 60 years. Dr Harold Edwards originally began the practice in 1947 and worked for almost 30 years with his partner and brother-in-law Dr H M

Zeffert. When Dr Edwards retired the practice was taken over by one of their associates Dr Anthony Foster who became a partner in 1968. Dr Foster acquired a reputation as an excellent dentist and he worked here full time until 1997. Dr Boota S Ubhi took over the practice in 1997 after completing his postgraduate specialist studies. Since then the practice has seen major changes including having been renovated twice. The most recent renovation saw the addition of consulting rooms, a dedicated surgical suite and a large postgraduate teaching room added to the building. New staff facilities and a purpose built waiting room were also added to the building at the same time . The practice has acquired both national and internationally recognised reputation for both its clinical work and for teaching postgraduate courses to qualified dentists. Incidentally both Dr Zeffert and Dr Foster and their families still come back for treatment!

❌ Not necessarily.

Peri-implantitis doesn’t automatically mean the implant has to be removed. I explain in this reel why…

The right approach depends on a number of factors, including the severity of the disease, supporting bone, implant stability and how the condition responds to treatment.

In some cases, the aim is to treat the infection, manage the inflammation and preserve the implant wherever possible.

Teaching has been part of Boota's career in dentistry for over 26 years🎓🦷

Dr Boota's journey in education began at Liverpool University, where he started as a part-time lecturer, before continuing his teaching at Birmingham University.

Since 2003, he focused his teaching on postgraduate education, sharing the clinical knowledge and experience his gained throughout my career.

From computer-guided surgery and soft tissue surgery around dental implants, to the management of peri-implantitis, teaching has allowed him to share practical techniques and approaches that can be applied directly in clinical practice.

For Dr Boota, education has always been about more than simply passing on knowledge. It’s about continuing to learn, sharing experiences and helping other clinicians develop the confidence and skills to provide the best possible care for their patients.

This has been a huge part of Dr Boota's journey and ultimately led to the development of BPI Education.

Can receding gums grow back? 🤔

In some cases, with BPI they can… 👀

Receding gums can affect more than just the appearance of your smile — they can also impact the long-term health and stability of your teeth.

You may notice:

This patient came to BPI Dental with significant gum recession following orthodontic treatment, combined with traumatic tooth brushing. 🪥

Following a detailed assessment with Dr Boota, it was clear that the existing gum tissue was too thin and unstable to adequately protect the teeth.

Treatment included:

✨ A gingival graft using tissue from the palate
✨ Increasing the amount of healthy gum tissue
✨ Covering the exposed root surfaces
✨ Creating a more stable and protective gum line

The outcome? Significant root coverage, healthier and stronger gum tissue, improved aesthetics and long-term stability - helping to protect the teeth and reduce the risk of further recession. ✨
