Position Details
Title: Apprentice Dental Nurse
Practice: Quay Dental Practice, Bideford
Function: Apprentice & Trainee
Location: Bank Chambers, The Quay, Bideford, Devon, EX39 2HW

Salary & Requirements
Contracted hours per week: 37.5
Salary: From: £5.28 (National Apprenticeship Training Wage) increasing to £6.40 from April 2024.
Working Pattern: Monday-Friday 8.45-5.15 (1 unpaid hour for lunch)

Vacancy Type: Fixed Term Contract

About the Role
• Understand the vision and brand message for the practice and deliver outstanding customer service experiences
• Between 15 and 18 month government funded course seeking a Dental Nursing Level 3 qualification
• The role will be 80% on the job learning and 20% studying with a reputable course provider
• The course is delivered in a ‘blended learning’ style i.e., coursework and portfolio pieces will be completed online or in a classroom environment
• The dental nurse apprenticeship consists of unit exams, a portfolio, and observations in the practice by an assessor who will visit the practice
• Trained to reassure patients
• Coordinating dental stock
• Decontamination and sterilising equipment
• Any other ad hoc responsibilities as reasonably requested

About the Candidate
• Maths and English GCSEs grades A-C
• If you don’t have GCSEs, you must complete the equivalent Functional Skills qualifications in order to meet the requirements of the training course
• Good communication and customer service skills, keeping patient satisfaction in mind
• Strong professionalism and relationship building skills
• Able to work intuitively and adapt to change
• Appreciation of the importance of health and safety
• Vaccinated against Hepatitis B

Salary: Depends on experience and skill sets
Working Pattern: Monday-Friday 8.45-5.15 (1 unpaid hour for lunch)

What We Need From You
• Maintain professional indemnity and registration with the GDC
• Comply with the ‘Code of Ethics’ of the British Association of Dental Nurses
• Undertake CPD in line with the GDC guidelines
• Knowledge of CQC and compliance
• Excellent clinical and interpersonal skills
• Friendly and welcoming manner
• Strong teamwork ability with an enthusiastic attitude
• Proficient user of the requisite dental software and Microsoft package
• Vaccinated against Hepatitis B

• Providing the highest standard of clinical support to our dentists and specialists
• Perform top quality dental nursing in all procedures in a safe and effective manner

⚠COVID-19 UPDATE⚠

As you are already aware, from the 19th July 2021 the government lifted all remaining restrictions, including mandatory mask-wearing and social distancing requirements.

It is important we continue to be cautious and to maintain protocols that aim to keep you, our clinicians, our teams, their families and the wider community as safe as possible. Therefore, we would like to confirm how our practice will continue to operate.

Guidance for when you are in practice:

Masks

✅All clinicians and team members will continue to always wear an appropriate mask in the practice.
✅Patients must also continue to always wear masks, unless receiving treatment, in line with guidance from Public Health England.

Social distancing

✅All clinicians, team members and patients should continue to socially distance when possible.

Waiting rooms

✅Waiting rooms can be used and enough space between seats will be implemented to keep everyone comfortable and socially distanced.

If you feel unwell, have any symptoms of Covid-19 or have had a positive test, please do not visit the practice, we will be happy to re-arrange your appointment. We will continue to maintain the highest levels of infection control, appropriate PPE, ventilation, and cleaning to ensure your visit to us is smooth.
