Stop repairing the same tooth over and over again the same way!

I never crown teeth because they continue to fracture. The crown does not solve the issue, which is often occlusal in nature

A basic occlusal assessment at presentation or initial consultation can diagnose effectively and help guide your treatment planning

Composite restorations using a composite gun and compule

I find this way works really well for me, doesn’t waste any composite, isn’t a cross infection risk and gives me more control over the amount of composite I’m using

ALWAYS CHECK YOUR POLISHING WHEEL DIRECTION
When polishing anterior restorations it’s important to check the direction your polishing wheel turns to ensure you are blending the composite seamlessly onto the tooth surface

If it’s turning the wrong direction you will unintentionally create a build up of resin dust or powder at the join making it very evident where the composite margin is

Beware mixing PASTE composite & FLOWABLE composite

I’ve learnt the hard way that sometimes shades of paste composite (from a compule) and flowable composite don’t match even if they’re from the same brand!

You have to remember that although a dental company has named a composite A1 or B1, this is just their ‘take’ on a classic vita shade A1 or B1. Across companies and materials the shades can vary significantly!

My 2 go-to composites for mixing paste and Flowable are Genial A’Chord mixed with Genial Universal Flowable (or injectable) and Tokuyama Estellite Asteria and medium viscosity Flowable
