Great toothbrushing going on at nanny's today...

23/06/2020

We would like to thank all our patients, at Laganside Dental practice, for their understanding and patience over the lockdown period. Like you, we just want things to get back to normal as soon as possible.
Unfortunately routine appointments are still not available. We will be offering appointments for non urgent care from 29th July.
Whenever it may be, your next visit to us will be quite different - this is how we will have to operate over the coming weeks so that we can keep everyone safe. We would appreciate your help in this by following the protocol below.

1. We will be operating a locked-door policy with social distancing keeping 2m apart until in surgery. Please do not come to the practice if you do not have an appointment.

2. The staff will triage you by telephone regarding your dental problem and to check your COVID-19 status before making your appointment.
Please come to your appointment alone, if possible, and bring only essential belongings.
Please do not attend if you are feeling unwell, or have been in contact with someone who has been ill in the last 14 days.

3. Our bathroom facilities are closed to patients during COVID-19 due to cross-infection risk, so please use your own toilet before attending the practice.

4. Do not turn up too early for your appointment. When you are outside, please phone the practice and we will advise you when to come in and we will open the door for you.

5. On arrival you will be asked to use the hand sanitiser - please do not wear gloves.

6. The dentist and nurse will be wearing extra PPE, as per national guidelines, so please do not be alarmed - it’s still us underneath!
Please advise a child of this beforehand, to avoid unnecessary alarm.

7. After your appointment, you will be advised if you need to return to reception to arrange another appointment or make payment. Please be prepared to pay by card - contactless if possible. Otherwise, please make your way straight to the door, using the hand sanitiser again before leaving. We’re not being rude, we’d love to chat, but the whole team have a lot to do, cleaning everything down to prepare for the next patient.

8. We understand that this is a lot of information. Please bear with us as we make preparations for a proper re-opening. Meanwhile, stay safe 🌈 and look after yourselves.

Best wishes, Tim and Anne.

So with one hand figuratively tied behind our back we are able to see some patients face to face from today. Please call the emergency phone number for triage in the first instance. Thank you for being the most patient patients! Hopefully we will see you all again before much longer. This is the first step in our path back to business as usual. Tim and Anne.

Unfortunately due to the Corona virus pandemic all routine dentistry has been postponed. We are now following strict Department of Health guidelines and can only offer a limited advisory service. We can still prescribe antibiotics if necessary. Thank you for your understanding in these difficult days and hopefully we'll be back to normal soon. Tim and Anne.

Some sensible self treatment advice until things return to normal and we get to look after all your dental needs again from Tim & Anne

We have had more relaxing Sundays in our time ... today we have been working on our plan for the practice from tomorrow.
In order to protect both our staff and our patients, we will be treating emergencies only for the foreseeable future.
This means that staff will be cancelling all non emergency appointments and will be in contact with you shortly if you have an appointment scheduled.
We will perform a triaging service for patients in severe dental pain in which they will phone reception and speak to a qualified dental nurse. If the patient passes triage, they will be phoned back by the dentist. If he deems that the patient's dental problem is an EMERGENCY then the patient will be asked to attend the practice for treatment.
Guidance just published recommends that dentists avoid aerosol generating procedures - including routine fillings, root canal work and scaling and polishing.
There will be a few patients who will need treatment during this time but only in extreme cases. Most patients will be given telephone advice only.
Obviously as the situation changes we will keep you informed.
Please stay safe and let's get through this difficult time together.
