Cudworth Dental Sedation Centre is a general family dentist that specialises in treating nervous patients. Using advanced techniques all patients can benefit from the various forms of sedation that our dentists have been trained to use which can help patients through their dental treatment. We are accredited by Barnsley Primary Care Trust, the Society for the Advancement of Anaesthesia in Dentistry and the General Dental Council as a highly regarded Dental Practice with the expertise to treat nervous and phobic patients.

Our teeth whitening offer with Jamaal is coming on Monday 2nd November.

£230 WHITENING - For patients who’ve had a check-up at Cudworth Dental Surgery within the last two years.

£300 EXAM, CLEAN & WHITENING- For new patients, or anyone whose last check-up with us was over two years ago. Includes a full dental examination, scale and polish, any necessary small dental X-rays and whitening.

Usual whitening price: £380, or £323 for Denplan patients.

Please read before booking:
• Ages 18+ only. Appointments are subject to availability.
• Whitening is subject to a dental assessment, even if you’ve had a recent check-up.
• Active tooth decay must be treated before whitening. Gum disease may also need treatment first.
• Additional treatment, including fillings, root canal treatment or further gum treatment, is not included. Costs depend on your individual needs and will be explained before you agree to treatment.
• Large panoramic X-rays, such as an OPT, are not included and cost extra if required.
• Whitening lightens natural teeth, not crowns, veneers or fillings.

Would you prefer a simple, predictable way to budget for your routine dental care?

Our Denplan Essentials plans include routine dental examinations and scale and polish appointments, with different options available depending on your individual needs.

You would also receive 15% off eligible treatment costs, helping to make ongoing dental care more manageable.

Alternatively, you can choose to pay as they go, paying the full fee for each appointment and treatment as it is required.

Speak to our friendly team and we’ll help you explore which option may be most suitable for you.

💙Meet Michelle

Michelle is a long-standing and much-loved member of our team, with several important roles across the practice.

You may recognise her friendly voice from the telephone, see her welcoming patients on reception or have her support you as one of our Treatment Coordinators.

When an accident meant Michelle needed to work remotely for a while, she found another very special way to support the practice, by writing and illustrating a beautiful collection of children’s books for our younger patients.

Outside work, Michelle loves spending time with her family and granddaughters, and being with her two little dogs.

We’re incredibly lucky to have someone so friendly, caring, creative and versatile on our team 💙

🙏 For some people, anxiety makes visiting the dentist feel impossible. Sedation can help them feel relaxed enough to get the care they need.

Sedation has been part of our practice for several decades. Andy and Leanne each have 25 years of clinical experience, and continue to invest in training for our growing team.

Dental implants might not be quite what you expect…

🦷 An implant replaces the root of a missing tooth and supports the replacement tooth above it, making implants the closest alternative to natural teeth. They feel comfortable and function just like normal teeth.

🦷 Dental implants have high long-term survival rates. Around 90% of implants placed ten years ago are still present and functioning (Leeds Dental Institute)

🦷 Implant placement is carried out under local anaesthetic, and sedation may also be available for anxious patients. Some discomfort afterwards is normal, but many patients are surprised by how comfortable the procedure can be.

Every patient is carefully assessed to determine whether implant treatment is suitable for them.

We understand dental fear is very real.

For many people it can make even booking an appointment feel overwhelming.

We were so grateful to receive this lovely Google review from Clare, who described the physical effects of her anxiety and how reassured and supported she felt throughout her visit.

For patients who need additional help to receive treatment, conscious sedation may be an option.

Sedation creates a state of deep relaxation while you remain awake and able to respond. Many patients remember very little about their procedure afterwards, and some remember nothing at all.

Sedation can be particularly helpful if you:

• Experience dental fear or anxiety
• Have a strong gag reflex
• Have struggled with treatment previously
• Need several treatments during one visit
• Require a longer or more complex procedure

Everything begins with a relaxed conversation and a careful assessment. There is no judgement and no pressure, just time to understand your concerns and discuss the most appropriate way to support you.

Why do dentists keep recommending an electric toothbrush?

1️⃣ They stop you being too aggressive - Many models alert you if you’re pressing too hard. If you scrub hard you can wear away the tooth tissue at the gum line causing problems including sensitivity.

2️⃣ They help you brush for long enough- built-in timers help you brush for the recommended two minutes.

3️⃣ They move with a gentle action across the teeth and along the gums; this action helps prevent aggressive scrubbing. You can simply guide the brush slowly around each tooth, angling the bristles gently towards the gumline.

A manual toothbrush can still clean effectively with the right technique, but many people find an electric brush makes brushing much easier and the mouth feel a lot cleaner.
