FTA's (Failed to attend) β
In March, we had 172 patients miss their appointment, some of which were longer appointments for more complex treatments, some even for emergency appointments or treatment.
The total time lost in January for failed appointments was 44 hours and 30 minutes.
This is the equivalent of over 267 check-ups or more than 12 working days of surgery time being lost.
As you are aware, NHS dental treatment is in extremely high demand in Barnsley. These appointments could have been offered to other patients in need of an emergency appointment, or patients who have been waiting to be seen for a general check-up if they had been cancelled with sufficient notice.
Repeated missed appointments may result in the cancellation of your registration with the practice.
For children's appointments, we follow the NHS was not brought (WNB) guidelines, which require us to carefully record and review missed appointments to help ensure children's wellbeing and continued access to dental care.
To help us provide the best possible service, we ask that you:
- Attend all appointments on time
- Inform us as soon as possible if you need to cancel or rearrange (ideally with 24 hoursβ notice)
If you are unable to attend your appointment, you can let us know by contacting the practice on 01226 207444 or alternatively 01226 492479.
We do send reminders on both email and text (let us know your preference), so remember to check your inbox or spam folder - and update us if your phone number, email, or preference ever changes!π±π¨
