Everyone talks about sugar, but acid can be just as damaging to your teeth!

Fizzy drinks, fruit juice, sports drinks, w**e and even lemon water can slowly wear away enamel over time.
Sugar feeds the bacteria that cause decay, but acid directly softens and dissolves the enamel itself.

Once enamel is gone, it doesn’t come back:( Some early signs to look out for are sensitivity, teeth looking more yellow, or edges starting to look slightly transparent

A few simple things can help
✅Use a straw where you can
✅Try not to sip acidic drinks over long periods
✅Rinse your mouth with water afterwards
✅Wait about 30 minutes before brushing

We are delighted to welcome Ailsa McDougall to our dental team.
Ailsa graduated from the University of Aberdeen in 2023 and provides both NHS and private dental care. She has a particular interest in restorative dentistry, composite bonding, and orthodontics, and is passionate about helping patients achieve healthy, confident smiles.
Known for her enthusiastic and friendly approach, Ailsa is especially skilled at putting nervous and anxious patients at ease, ensuring they feel comfortable and supported throughout their treatment journey.
Outside of dentistry, Ailsa enjoys spending time outdoors with her two dogs and can often be found with a good book in hand.
We are thrilled to have Ailsa join our team and look forward to introducing her to our patients
