COVID 19 Update
It’s been some time since we posted an update about how we stand with regards to appointments and the pandemic, largely because nothing has actually changed in recent months.

The Scottish Government recently made comments at a press briefing that implied things were ‘back to normal’ with respect to dentistry. We want to take the opportunity to clarify this as sadly, the reality is things are still very far from normal.

Whilst we are no longer prohibited from providing any NHS dental services, we are still severely restricted in how we are allowed to work. Social distancing, skeleton staff teams, provision of PPE and fallow times following treatment mean a drastic reduction in the number of patients we are able to treat in a day. Therefore, we are still working to see emergency or urgent care as a priority.

We are now just over a year since the start of lock down and as a result almost 100% of our patients are now over due their check up. We appreciate your frustration at the lack of progress but the profession faces a mammoth back log of work with waiting lists at unprecedented levels. Things are not going to go ‘back to normal’ any time soon. Routine check ups for all are still not going to be available any time soon, and as disappointing as this is for everyone involved, that is the toll the pandemic has taken.

Our staff are working hard to accommodate as many patients as we can but we are currently booked out for weeks in advance so please be patient and please be kind. This isn’t anybody’s fault so please don’t take your frustrations out on our reception staff. When we are in a position to start offering routine check ups again we will let you know.

Thank you, as always, for your ongoing cooperation and support through this difficult time.

Good afternoon everyone, a quick update from us at the practice.

As you would have heard with the announcement from the FM there has been no immediate lifting of restrictions and we have had no new updates from the Chief Dental Officer and therefore will continue working through the urgent care cases.

If you have pain, long standing broken teeth or an unexplained patch or lump please don't hesitate call the practice on 01292 264 558.

Unfortunately, we have been having IT issues and have had no access to the Internet for the past 2 weeks and therefore if you have emailed us and we haven't responded - it's just because we haven't seen it. As soon as this gets fixed we will be in touch but as previously mentioned, the preferred method of communication is telephone ☎️

Finally, we are aware that most people have not had a check up for more than a year. It is important that as we wait for services to return to normal that we keep our dental health as a priority. This can be easily be forgotten with everything going on. For reference the Oral Health Foundation have some fantastic articles to help keep your teeth in tip top shape. Remember brush 2x daily for 2 minutes and floss once a day. https://www.dentalhealth.org/

For now that's it. We are very busy, so please bear with us, as we all work together to get through this.

From everyone at Fullarton Dental Care.

Good morning all, a quick update for you from the practice.

We have been working very hard adapting to the new lockdown rules. Although we are still operating with a skeleton staff, the practice remains open and surprisingly busy.

To help us help you as quickly and efficiently as possible we would ask all patients to call the practice and speak to a member of staff rather than emailing or sending Facebook messages.

As we are still in a national lockdown, our priority is to see those patients who are in need of urgent care and therefore we are still not offering check ups or scale and polishes.

We are here to help where we can, so if you have any questions at all, the practice is open everyday so please call 01292 264 558, (preferably before 11am) where we will best be able to advise you on your particular situation.

Finally, a massive thank you to all our patients who have supported us throughout this time.

Warmest Regards,

All at Fullarton Dental Care

Hey all,

Quick update from the practice this week. You will have noticed that the temperature has dropped in the last couple of weeks.

As part of the new COVID health and safety procedures we need to keep the windows open during treatment.

Yes, even when its blowing a gale!

So please remember to pop on a jumper if you are coming in for treatment as the rooms are very cold 🥶 🧊❄❄

Thanks!

Hey all, just a quick update around the announcement that we are moving into Tier 4.

The practice will remain OPEN through this period and we are still available for dental emergencies and all urgent care needs.

As always please call the practice before 11am Monday to Friday so we can organise an appointment for you as quickly as possible.

If you can share this message with anyone who doesn't have Facebook we would be highly appreciative.

Thanks guys! 😊

Hey all,

Just a quick update from the practice this week. As you know, the practice is open Monday to Friday for emergencies and the backlog of treatment from lockdown.

To help us help you,

1) Please call the practice between 9 and 11am for appointments to ensure we can schedule you as promptly as possible.

2) The practice is closed for walk in appointments. The door will be locked. We would ask you to call us and speak to a member of staff who can assist you best.

3) Due to the volume of patients we have to get through we are NOT currently accepting new patients.

4) Please note if you normally pay for your treatment, the NHS is getting back to normal and we will be taking payments. We are accepting cash but would encourage you to use contact less payments.

5) The backlog of patients is significant and we need to prioritise those who need care most urgently. Therefore, we will not be doing any check ups or scale and polishes for the time being. We will keep you informed as we adjust to the new normal.

Thank you so much for all your support during this time. The messages and gifts have been very much appreciated by everyone here.

**COVID 19 Update**

Following guidelines from the Government and Chief Dental Officer, our practice will be able to provide routine general dental care from Monday 2nd November.

Our priority will be to attend to the backlog of patients who require emergency care and those with treatment outstanding from this lockdown period; we are in the process of contacting these patients at present.

The need for social distancing and enhanced cleaning of surgeries between patients means that we cannot attend to the same volume of patients at this time.

We are aware that almost all of our patients are now overdue for their routine check-up. We would ask for your patience as we try and work through this treatment backlog and we will be in contact in due course.

Hand sanitising stations are available throughout the practice and we ask you to please wear a mask where possible when attending.

Due to social distancing measures, we will be operating a closed-door policy to allow for screening of patients before entry. No walk-in appointments will be available at this time.

If you are experiencing dental symptoms or have any concerns, please contact the practice by telephone on 01292 264 558, preferably before 11am so we can attend to you as quickly as possible.

We are looking forward to returning to some level of normality during these uncertain times and to providing the best patient care and attention in a safe and welcoming environment. We also appreciate the continued support of our loyal patients and would ask if you could please share this information with information with those who may not have access to Facebook.

Good Morning all,

Please see below an update from the Ayrshire and Arran Health Board.

We are still here to cover all emergency treatment Monday to Friday and address any queries you may have.

As the NHS only allows us to do a basic exam but no fillings and scale and polishes, we have made the decision as a practice that we will not be making check up appointments until we can carry out a comprehensive examination and do appropriate treatment if it is required.

With numbers rising again we are not sure when we will back to offering normal treatment. We are however creating options to begin some limited treatment privately in the practice.

COVID 19 UPDATE

Good morning, we have had lots of calls from patients who have heard announcements from the radio that we are able to do routine treatment. Unfortunately, this is information is not fully accurate and causing some confusion. Any AGP procedures in the practice according to government guidelines is only for emergency care.

As an extremely high risk profession, we need to have special equipment and safety measures in place to allow us to do our job both safely and efficiently. This means that when we are ready to do routine treatment, dentistry as we know it will look completely different for the foreseeable future- months, not weeks. We will have a significantly reduced number of appointment slots and will continue to have limitations on what we can do here and where we can refer you to as NHS Dentistry gets back up and running.

We are still here to provide urgent care for those patients who require emergency cover and will keep you updated as to when we can begin to do more routine care.

Thank you for all your support and well wishes through this time. As a small practice, we are doing everything we can to ensure we will be here to continue to serve you for years to come.
