A fork in the road.
We ended the week helping this gentleman rescue a failing bridge and it highlights a decision many people face with their dental health.
“Do I fix this now, even though it’s only a little bit decayed?”
“Could it wait another six months?”
The difficult part is that, even with years of experience, dentistry still comes with unknowns. Sometimes we wish we had a crystal ball to tell us exactly what we’ll find underneath.
In this case, once the old bridge was removed, we discovered that one of the supporting teeth had deteriorated significantly.
Fortunately, we were able to repair the tooth and provide a temporary bridge at the same appointment — pictured here.
Sometimes treating a problem earlier gives us more options. Waiting can turn a relatively straightforward repair into something much more complicated.
A good reminder that when it comes to dentistry, timing can make all the difference.
