The Gateway Dental Practice Gateway Dental Practice established 2007 with a team dedicated to maintaining the provision of NHS dentistry here in the heart of beautiful Abergavenny.

The Gateway Dental practice is a NHS dental practice specialising in the care of patient's with dental phobias. The practice was founded in 2007 by Dr Michael Allen who using experience gained in his previous Cardiff practice, refurbished this listed building to fit the needs of a busy NHS dental practice. In 2016 the practice became a co-operative with five directors at the helm with the intentio

n for all employees to share the benefits of the business. We are the first business of this kind in welsh dentistry. The directors team is made up of two dentists (George Warmisham & Hannah Hutchison), one therapist (Diane Lock) and two dental nurses (Stacey Richards & Stephanie Brooks) who manage an enthusiastic dental team. We have a varied skill mix at the practice and endeavour to use them in the best interest of our patients health and well being. We encourage all employees to continue their professional development so that we are able to maintain a high standard of care. Since 2007 we have continuously taken on new patients, unfortunately as of May 2017 we no longer have the capacity to accept new patients.

Soon we will be introducing an online booking system to make arranging appointments easier.

It’s not quite ready yet, but you may receive a message mentioning online booking while we get everything set up. Please don’t worry- this is just part of the process and the system is not live at the moment.

In the meantime you can continue to book appointments in the usual way.

We would like to apologise to any patients who have recently had appointments rearranged.

Unfortunately, one of our dentists is currently off sick, which has temporarily reduced our appointment availability.

Situations like this are never ideal, but as a small clinical team it can sometimes mean we need to adjust the diary at short notice.

As a result, some NHS and Denplan appointments have needed to be rescheduled. We completely understand that this can be frustrating and we are very sorry for the inconvenience caused.

Our team is working hard to offer alternative appointments and prioritise patients who require more urgent care.

If your appointment has been cancelled and you have not yet rearranged it, please contact the practice and our reception team will be happy to help find the next available appointment.

If you have any urgent dental concerns in the meantime, please contact the practice so we can assist you as soon as possible.

On Monday 23rd February practice will be closed while we have essential new software installed. This is an important upgrade that also requires staff training to ensure we can continue to provide the best possible service.

9am-1pm phones will be unavailable.

From 2pm phone lines will be open to book emergency appointments only. For any routine requests please call the following day as these will not be able to be completed.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding.

Due to the amber snow warning, the practice may need to close tomorrow for safety. If we are unable to open, we will contact all patients with appointments as early as we can.
