We had a wonderful time hosting an Orthotex Smile Specialists Baby Shower for Dr. Joanna this afternoon at Harvest Kitchen & Bakery. We are so excited for Dr. Jo, and will miss her this summer while she’s on maternity leave, but we look forward to seeing her back in the fall. We know that she and Dr. Will are going to be wonderful parents and we can’t wait to meet Baby Wang in a few weeks! We’d also like to extend a huge thank you to Chef Lori for making this such a special time for our team and for all that you do for the community. Harvest Kitchen is where we always take our out-of-town guests and where we go to make memories. Thank you!!! 🎊🎊🎊❤️❤️❤️

Please take a moment to help us celebrate the life of my Spanish host mother, Encarnita Utrilla Garcia, who passed away here in Granada this morning from cancer. Twenty years ago this month I first came to Spain to spend the spring semester of my junior year at UConn, when Encarnita and her family welcomed me into their home and changed my life forever. I will always be grateful to her for showering me with love and encouragement, and for all those delicious homemade meals. I was fortunate to visit her the past two years and spend my 40th birthday with her and her family this past October, just shortly before she was diagnosed. Although it has been very sad, I am tremendously grateful to have spent her last three days of life here at the hospital and to be able to attend her Requiem Mass of Christian Burial tomorrow. May God bless Encarnita as I know she will receive many rewards in heaven for her many labors of love, service and hospitality here on earth.

We had a very special Thanksgiving meal together last night for our Orthotex team members who were available. As always, Marvin, Tiffany and the team at Gauchos went above and beyond to make us feel very welcome. After dinner, we went over to Katy Asia Town where Dr. Joanna’s husband, Dr. Will Wang, is constructing his new practice, Triple Oak Dental. J.A. Greene Construction Services, LLC is nearing the end of their punch list and Dr. Will should be seeing patients in a couple of weeks! We are very fortunate to have such a wonderful team who all share our vision to make orthodontic treatment easy and accessible to everyone.

Dr. Zane’s cousin, Veit, sent this photo of him hiking this morning in the Schneeberg (Austrian Alps) wearing his Orthotex t-shirt. Veit is in his third year of medical school in Vienna, Austria, but we still get to see him and his family about once a year. Yesterday, Dr. Zane and our good friend, Dr. Tun, who owns Harmony Orthodontics, enjoyed a very nice time walking and having a picnic at Memorial Park with their families. It may not be the altitude of Veit’s hike in the Alps, but we hope each of you feel on top of the world this weekend.
