Tu boca y tu corazón están más conectados de lo que parece.

Una mala higiene bucal no provoca por sí sola un infarto, pero hay relación entre la enfermedad de las encías y los problemas cardiovasculares. No es causa directa, es indirecta.

Un ejemplo: antes de una cirugía cardíaca, como un cambio de válvula, es habitual revisar la boca. Si hay gingivitis o periodontitis, las bacterias pueden pasar a la sangre y, en un corazón operado, favorecer una infección llamada endocarditis. Por eso se pone la boca a punto antes.

Cuidar las encías no es solo cuidar los dientes. Es cuidar tu salud general.

Presta atención si:

🔹 Las notas rojas o inflamadas
🔹 Tienes mal aliento persistente

Hay un proceso que casi nadie conoce, y que no duele hasta que está avanzado: la reabsorción radicular externa.

En pocas palabras: el propio cuerpo empieza a "desgastar" la raíz del diente desde dentro, poco a poco, como si fuera comiendo su base con el tiempo.

¿Por qué pasa? Las causas más habituales son un golpe antiguo, a veces de hace años, o la presión de una ortodoncia mal controlada. El cuerpo reacciona reabsorbiendo parte de la raíz, sin síntoma visible al principio.

Lo complicado es justo eso: no duele, no se ve, y el diente sigue pareciendo normal mucho tiempo. Por eso casi siempre se detecta en una revisión con radiografía, no porque el paciente note algo raro.

Cuanto antes se detecta, más opciones hay para frenarlo. Por eso las revisiones no son solo para limpiar: también sirven para ver lo que no se ve a simple vista.

Si llevas tiempo sin una revisión completa, puede ser buen momento. 🦷

There's a process almost nobody knows about, and it doesn't hurt until it's already advanced: external root resorption.

Put simply: the body starts "wearing away" the tooth's root from the inside, little by little, as if it were slowly eating away its base over time.

Why does it happen? The most common causes are an old blow, sometimes from years ago, or pressure from poorly controlled orthodontic treatment. The body reacts by resorbing part of the root, with no visible symptoms at first.

That's the tricky part: it doesn't hurt, it can't be seen, and the tooth keeps looking normal for a long time. That's why it's almost always caught during a check-up with an X-ray, not because the patient notices anything.

The earlier it's caught, the more options there are to stop it. Regular check-ups aren't just about cleaning: they're also how we see what can't be seen.
