Dental abscess 🦷
It is a pocket of pus resulting from a bacterial infection. The abscess can occur in different places around teeth and for different reasons.
🟦 Types of dental abscesses
🔵 Apical abscess that occurs at the tip of the root
🔵 Periodontal abscess occurs in the gums next to the root of the tooth.
⛔ Causes of dental abscesses
👉🏻 It occurs after tooth decay, inflammation, and neglect of treatment. Poor oral and dental hygiene contributes to its development and makes it worse.
⛔ Dental abscesses cause damage to the tooth, gums, and nerves, which may lead to the end of the feeling of pain. This is very dangerous because it prompts the infected person to neglect treatment and worsen the condition to extend to other teeth and to new areas in the gums, then the inflammation extends to the jawbone to cause damage that may not be reversible without resorting to surgery.
⚠ Symptoms of a dental abscess
🟡 A severe, persistent, throbbing toothache that can spread to the jawbone, neck, or ear
🟡 Sensitivity to hot and cold temperatures
🟡 Sensitivity to pressure when chewing or biting
🟡 Fever
🟡 Swelling of the face or cheek
🟡 Feeling pain, swollen lymph nodes under the jaw or in the neck
🟡 A sudden rush of bad-smelling, salty fluids in your mouth, and decreased pain if the abscess bursts
🟡 Difficulty breathing or swallowing
⛔ Complications of a dental abscess
🔴 Meningitis is a complication of this problem
🔴 Some other dental abscesses appear as a complication, if the primary abscess is not treated properly,
🔴 Bacteria can reach the blood and result in a state of poisoning or sepsis, which is a very serious condition.
🔴 The bacteria spread to the bones and surrounding tissues, causing damage to the bones surrounding the abscess, accompanied by severe pain and high temperature.
