One of those challenging cases where saving the natural tooth was the goal. 🤍

This case involved a severely compromised wisdom tooth with a challenging calcified canals, severe gingival inflammation, and extensive caries affecting the surrounding teeth.

Despite the complexity of the case, we decided to treat and preserve the wisdom tooth rather than extract it, especially because it was the last remaining tooth in the arch.

After managing the infection and treating the involved teeth, a dental bridge was placed to restore both function and aesthetics.

✨ The result was not only about improving the appearance, but also about:
• Preserving a natural tooth that could have been lost.
• Managing the existing infection and caries.
• Restoring the missing teeth.
• Re-establishing proper function and aesthetics.

……Not every wisdom tooth needs to be extracted.
When possible, preserving a natural tooth can be the best option. The decision always depends on the tooth’s condition, restorability, function, and the overall treatment plan.

Case of the Day 🦷💙

Yazan, a 6-year-old boy, visited our clinic complaining of severe tooth pain. However, the real challenge wasn’t only his dental condition—it was his overwhelming fear of the dentist due to a previous traumatic dental experience.

Instead of rushing into treatment, we spent time getting to know each other, talking, playing, and building trust. After nearly an hour, we gently tried to encourage him to start his dental treatment using positive reinforcement, games, rewards, and age-appropriate communication.

Despite all our efforts, his fear remained overwhelming. His mother explained that he had developed significant dental anxiety following a previous negative experience.

After carefully evaluating the situation, we decided that comprehensive dental treatment under General Anesthesia would be the safest and most comfortable option for him.

On the scheduled day, the procedure was successfully completed. His treatment included multiple pulpotomies/pulpectomies as indicated, stainless steel crowns, and extraction of non-restorable teeth.

In pediatric dentistry, success is not measured only by treating teeth—it’s also about protecting a child’s emotional well-being and ensuring that fear never stands in the way of a healthy smile.

Every child deserves a pain-free smile, even when treatment is not straightforward.

a 3-year-old child with epilepsy who presented with persistent dental pain. Despite multiple behavior management techniques and several previous unsuccessful dental visits, conventional treatment was not possible due to lack of cooperation. After careful assessment and discussion with the parents, comprehensive dental rehabilitation under general anesthesia was planned to relieve pain and restore oral health.

Rationale for General Anesthesia

General anesthesia was selected to:

*Eliminate pain and discomfort.
* Provide a safe environment for treatment.
* Complete all necessary dental procedures in a single visit.
* Avoid repeated traumatic experiences for the child.

This case highlights the importance of individualized treatment planning and the role of general anesthesia in managing young and medically compromised pediatric patients when conventional approaches are unsuccessful.
