🎓 Taking the wonders of Lasers in Dentistry to the next level – Dr Etiene Potgieter from Paardevlei Smile Dental in Cape Town is participating in the MASTERSHIP Diploma in Laser Dentistry this year. He and his team are experienced in the success achieved with lasers in Aesthetics and Dental procedures, and having recently advanced their laser technology to offer patients more, the new possibilities are truly exciting. Dr Potgieter said “Laser Therapy is the future of Dentistry and I feel privileged to be part of such a great group of surgeons that add value and contribute new skills to our profession.”
The internationally recognised course direct from Germany’s RWTH Aachen University, one of Europe’s leading institutions for science and engineering research kicks off on 10 February in Cape Town’s Waterfront. Dr Potgieter will participate in this one-year career-accompanying clinical specialisation course in laser-supported therapies in dentistry to keep him abreast with the latest and most advanced technology in dentistry.
South African Mastership participating dentists are honoured to be taught on lasers in the various clinical dental procedures by world renowned, a highly regarded master in lasers in dentistry, Prof. Dr. Norbert Gutknecht who has been professionally researching lasers since the 1980’s and been part of the revolution it has brought to not only medicine, but now also dentistry. Joining Prof. Gutknecht is Aachen University’s Assoc. Prof. and Physicist, Dr Rene Franzen who will teach the exciting side of what Einstein sparked over a century ago (1917), the notion of lasers, and prediction of stimulated emission. Now, hardly a day goes by in the life of an urbanite without the laser’s beam of coherent photons impinging on it. From supermarket barcode scanning to broadband fibre-optic telecommunications, lasers are everywhere and are revolutionising dentistry. Providing minimally invasive techniques, clinical excellence in the hands of well trained clinicians and amazing solutions to people living with pain, laser technology in dentistry is at a high state of refinement, having had several decades of development, and is now an essential component of contemporary dental practice.
We wish Dr Etiene Potgieter the very best year on what will certainly be a fascinating year for him! If you’re one of his existing patients, we celebrate him with you!
