✋️ so many people don't know that they are grinding or clenching their teeth during their sleep! It is not uncommon for a partner, spouse or parent to notice before you do! Grinding happens more often when asleep because of the pressure placed on your teeth than when you're awake. Clenching happens most often when you are tense and awake. For example, while working at a computer.
Here are some signs that you may grind or clench your teeth (bruxism)

🦷 aching teeth or jaw especially when you wake up in the morning
🦷headaches: your jaw is working overtime while the rest of your body sleeps causing facial muscles to tighten and tension causing headaches or migraines
🦷 Tooth sensitivity: slowly you start to wear away at your Tooth structure causing the exposure of nerves and sometimes chipped teeth
🦷 ear aches: because the structure of the tmj is very close to the ear canal you can feel a pain in a different location than its source (this is called referred pain)
