With yesterday’s announcement of the phased re-opening of the province, many of you likely heard that dental offices are included in Phase 1 of the plan, starting as of May 4.

While this is great news because it means we are one step closer to being able to see our patients’ lovely faces, it is only one small step of many. As dentists we are regulated by the Manitoba Dental Association (MDA). We are waiting for guidelines from the MDA in order to be able to ensure a safe return to work for our patients and our team members.

We also need to ensure we have sufficient and appropriate personal protective equipment in order to safely treat patients. This will likely be a limiting factor in our ability to see patients, as there is still a massive shortage of PPE (not just in Manitoba but globally).

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate new regulations and protocols. We will not be able to simply return to “business as usual” as of May 4, but we will be working hard to figure out how we can best adjust to this new normal. We unfortunately will still not be able to schedule routine dental care at this time.

As an update, the office remains closed until further notice. We are unable to provide regular dental treatment at this time, however, I will remain available for dental emergencies (such as pain and infection).

If you are experiencing a dental emergency, please call the office at 204-339-4202 (ext. 1) and leave a voicemail with your name, number, and details of your emergency. I will return calls at my earliest opportunity.

In response to the rapidly changing circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, we have decided to suspend all scheduled non-emergent dental appointments, effective Wednesday March 18, 2020. This decision does not come lightly, but we are following the recommendation of the Manitoba Dental Association to postpone all non-essential or elective dental procedures, and to provide emergency treatment only.

We are doing this for the safety of our patients, staff, and the community at large. We should all be doing everything we can to help and to encourage people to stay home and stay healthy.

Congrats to the winner of our new patient Jets Giveaway!!

Kristen was the lucky winner in the draw last week, and she will be cheering on the Jets at tonight’s game against the Dallas Stars!

Thank you again to all of the new patients who have come to see me over the last several months, I’m lucky to have such great patients 😊
