A little off our favourite blue colour scheme 😉 but we wanted to recognize an important day today!

June 3rd is Red Shirt Day, part of National AccessAbility Week / Manitoba Access Awareness Week. It’s a day that supports inclusion, accessibility, and equity for people with disabilities—and highlights the importance of building communities where everyone belongs.

At WinPO, this aligns closely with how we approach care every day: focusing on ability, independence, and removing barriers so people can move through life with confidence and dignity.

We are celebrating National AccessAbility Week and Manitoba Access Awareness Week this week!

This week (from May 31 to June 6), is an important reminder that accessibility isn’t optional - it’s essential.

At WinPO, we see firsthand that accessibility isn’t about limitations. It’s about removing barriers so people can move, live, and participate fully in their own way.

We support our clients by focusing on function, comfort, and independence but most importantly, recognizing challenges without defining people by them. Every device we build is centred on ability, not limitation.

This week is an opportunity to recognize the importance of accessibility while continuing to push for environments, systems, and mindsets that include everyone. We invite you to take advantage of the many resources that will be shared throughout the week to stay informed!

Orthotic care is about helping you move and feel better through improved support, alignment, and comfort.

Custom orthotics can help reduce foot and joint pain and are commonly used for conditions like plantar fasciitis, arthritis, and general lower-limb discomfort. Braces and supports for the arm, wrist, or hand can also assist with stability and recovery after injury or with certain conditions.

At Winnipeg Prosthetics & Orthotics, every device starts with a full assessment by a Certified Orthotist or Certified Pedorthist to ensure your care is tailored to your needs and goals.

If you’re dealing with ongoing pain or mobility issues, orthotic care may help. Contact WinPO to book a consultation.

In some cases, leather can be the best choice for an orthotic device, depending on comfort needs, fit, and functional goals.

At WinPO, it is our job to know what would best suit your condition, your abilities and your preferences. We take the time to complete a thorough physical assessment, ask the right questions, and understand your day-to-day needs so we can recommend the most appropriate solution for you.

It’s all about finding what works best for your body, your lifestyle, and your goals. 🌟

Let us help you find the best solution for you: https://winpo.ca/services/orthotics/

A gentle reminder for our clients —

If you’re in your transition period, it’s completely normal if things don’t feel “normal” just yet. Adjusting takes time, and your body needs space to adapt.

As long as you’re not in pain, try not to rush the process. Start slow, build gradually, and listen to what your body is telling you along the way.

Progress here isn’t about speed — it’s about steady, confident steps forward.

Today, we celebrate the mothers, grandmothers, stepmothers, caregivers, and all those who nurture, guide, and support others with endless love and strength.

At Winnipeg Prosthetics & Orthotics, we have the privilege of meeting so many incredible women who show resilience, compassion, and determination every day - both in their families and in our community.

To all the moms and mother figures who inspire us through your care and courage, we wish you a wonderful Mother’s Day filled with love and appreciation. 💐

Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at WinPO.

Usually, we’re the ones sending packages home with our clients, so it was a fun surprise to receive a delivery of our own this week.

This year marks 40 years of Winnipeg Prosthetics & Orthotics, and it’s hard to believe how much has happened since our doors first opened in Winnipeg. We’ve had the privilege of supporting incredible clients through every chapter - first at our original location, and now at our home on Marion. The relationships we’ve built and the milestones we’ve shared over the years are what make this anniversary so meaningful.

And yes - we were pretty excited to finally receive our new shirts featuring the special 40-year logo. Safe to say, we’ll be wearing them proudly. 🙂

If you've been a client of ours for a while, chances are you've seen a familiar face welcoming you at the front desk. And if you're new to WinPO, she may be the first friendly smile to greet you when you walk through our doors!

Say hello to Ysah! 👋

Ysah plays an important role in keeping our front office running smoothly. From welcoming clients and helping coordinate appointments to answering questions, she helps make every visit as easy and comfortable as possible. Her warm personality, kindness, and willingness to help are a big part of what makes WinPO feel so welcoming.

We were so happy to welcome Ysah back to the team last year, and our clients have been just as happy to see her return.

When she's not at the clinic, Ysah is a busy mom of three who loves spending quality time with her family.

So next time you're in the office - be sure to say hi to Ysah!
