🏆 We won the Community Impact Award!

DoorStep Dental Inc has been named the Community Impact Award winner at the Startup Growth Awards 2026, presented at the AGAZ Summit in Mississauga.

Six years ago I was practicing dentistry in Karachi. In 2019 I came to Canada and started over — retraining as a dental hygienist — because I saw seniors, shift workers, and rural families going without basic dental care. Not because the care didn't exist, but because they couldn't reach it.

So Adam Beganyi and I built DoorStep Dental: we bring the clinic to the doorstep. Today, that mission was recognized on a national stage.

This belongs to every patient who trusted us, every retirement residence that opened its doors, and everyone who believes — as I do — that a healthy smile should never depend on your postal code.

Thank you to growth , Canadian SME Small Business Magazine, and the Startup Association for this honour, and congratulations to our fellow finalists.

This is only the beginning. Our vision: serve the underserved, partner with government health units, take health innovation beyond borders — and share our playbook freely so communities worldwide can bring basic dental care to their people.

We often ask ourselves: How can we make healthcare more accessible? How can we reach the people who may not be able to reach a traditional dental office?

For us, the answer is simple: we bring the dental office to them. 🦷💙

We set up in retirement residences, patient rooms, activity spaces, and wherever our patients feel most comfortable. Whether someone uses a wheelchair, has mobility challenges, or simply finds travelling to a dental clinic difficult, we adapt our care around their needs.

🇨🇦 Our DoorStep Dental Journey — From an Idea to Canada’s Small Business 100

There was a time when DoorStep Dental was nothing more than an idea.

We saw a gap in access to preventive oral healthcare. There were seniors, people with mobility challenges, residents in retirement communities, families, and others who faced barriers getting to a traditional dental office.

We kept asking ourselves:

What if the dental office could come to them instead?

And in July 2024, we took the leap and started DoorStep Dental. 🦷🏠

We began with portable equipment, a vision, and a lot of determination. We walked into homes and community spaces, setting up a dental hygiene clinic wherever our patients needed us.

Then came another major chapter in our journey: moving to Kingston and building our business and our community from the ground up.

Like any small business, the road hasn't always been easy. We had to learn, adapt, build relationships, earn trust, create partnerships, and keep showing up—even when things felt uncertain.

But slowly, the little things started adding up.

A patient became a referral.
A conversation became a partnership.
A retirement residence opened its doors to us.
A community organization introduced us to another opportunity.
And the people we served became the heart of why we continue.

Today, we have had the privilege of serving 100+ patients, partnering with multiple organizations and retirement communities, and becoming part of the Kingston community we are so proud to call home.

We’ve also been incredibly humbled by the recognition our journey has received, including being named New Business of the Year.

And now, we are incredibly honoured to share another milestone:

We didn't build DoorStep Dental just to create a business.
