When to Seek Medical Care Instead of a Dentist

While we’re always here to help with your dental needs, there are some situations where it’s best to seek medical attention at the hospital or your doctor instead.

👉 Go to the Hospital or Doctor if You Experience:
• High fever, chills, or difficulty breathing along with tooth pain (signs of a more serious infection).
• Severe swelling around the face, neck, or eyes that makes it hard to breathe or swallow.
• Uncontrollable bleeding after an extraction that doesn’t stop with firm gauze pressure for 30-60 minutes.
• Trauma or injury causing broken bones or deep facial cuts.

✅ For dental emergencies like toothaches, broken teeth, or minor swelling, call our office – we’ll always do our best to help!

Starting Friday with an implant for our amazing patient, a former pilot AND actor—what a combo! He’s such a kind soul, and I’m lucky to have my Friday assistant Sheena by my side, even though she’s juggling school. Funny how I used to hate Fridays because of no weekend work, but now? I’m all about that Friday afternoon nap game… until Monday. 😅✈️🎬

We’re thrilled to announce that Dr. Laphas Kwinsakulrat has joined Bakerview Dental Centre! Born in Thailand and raised in Sidney and Victoria, BC, Dr. Laphas completed her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry at UVic and earned her DMD at UBC. She specialized in pediatric dental care during her residency at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. Dr. Laphas is passionate about providing gentle, quality care for children and is excited to serve the community she grew up with. Welcome, Dr. Laphas!
